In Mufasa: The Lion King, the backstory is given for Simba’s father Mufasa. This backstory isn’t exactly what one would expect. However, it does create a story that makes sense when The Lion King comes along. That is if one follows the story of Pride Rock and the lions that inhabit it.

Quality
Technology continues to move forward in the realm of photorealistic animation. Mufasa: The Lion King demonstrates this. It really looks quite fantastic and, dare I say it, photorealistic. The animation looks even better than The Lion King did just a few years ago. The audio that accompanies it is also quite solid. Overall, this movie is a lovely viewing and listening experience.

Final Thoughts
Mufasa: The Lion King is a movie that is a pleasant surprise to watch. Ahead of seeing it, I wasn’t sure it was a story that needed to be told. After all, the animated original really is a masterpiece. However, this adds some depth to the overall story of The Lion King. The music, while not as good as the original film, is decent. The photorealistic animation is solid. The chargers are equally solid. Overall, the whole movie is a good addition to the world of The Lion King and is worth watching. I give this film a solid hat tip. It’s worth seeing and worth adding to one’s Disney library!
