Hall of Presidents Closes for Refurbishment at Walt Disney World Resort

The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort is now closed. The attraction, as is generally the case, closed as President Biden passed the torch of the American Presidency to the re-elected President Trump. A sign in front of the attraction says it is closed for refurbishment. On the Walt Disney World Resort website, there is an announcement that says: “The Hall of Presidents will temporarily close for refurbishment on January 20, 2025, and is expected to reopen later in 2025.”

Hall of Presidents Closed

The closure this time of the Hall of Presidents will lead to a first for the attraction. If things continue as they have in recent years, when the attraction reopens it will have President Trump once again moved to a place of prominence reserved for the current President of the United States. It is unknown if the format of the show will change or if it will remain similar to how it has been in recent years. Here is a look at the previous iteration of the show with President Biden:

Before President Biden was added to the attraction, President Trump appeared near President Lincoln in the place reserved for the current President of the United States. It can be seen here:

It is unknown at this point when the Hall of Presidents will reopen. Four years ago, the attraction reopened in August with President Biden. For President Trump’s first appearance in the attraction, it reopened in December. President Obama’s version of the attraction opened in March after his inauguration. In that case, the attraction closed in October before he was elected.

The Hall of Presidents first opened on October 1, 1971. Found in Liberty Square, it is in a building that resembles Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The attraction features Audio-Animatronic figures of all of the men who have been the President of the United States. The current iteration of the show includes a video presentation called The Idea of a President, a speech by George Washington, a roll call of all the Presidents, and the President reciting the Presidential Oath.
