On this day in 2005, Walt Disney World started using finger scans with all types of tickets and passes, including the new Magic Your Way tickets. This “Ticket Tag” scan system rolled out in 1996, but only for Annual Passes. Later in May 2005, scans were applied to previously-purchased tickets too. Instead of storing an image of the fingerprint, the scanners convert a guest’s biometric data into a geometric formula. Only the number is linked with the ticket. [20 years ago in 2025]
