Disney Tales of Magic debuts at Disneyland Paris on January 10, 2025. This new show will transport visitors into some of the most enchanting stories from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios. This show continues the legacy of fantastic nighttime entertainment that has been experienced by guests with Disney Dreams and Disney Illuminations. Disney Tales of Magic also continues the trend of pushing the boundaries of innovation and creativity. In this case, for the first time, Main Street, U.S.A. will be at the center of this show utilizing cutting-edge technology to create a magical and connective experience.
“At Disneyland Paris, we’ve always strived to push the boundaries of what’s possible in nighttime entertainment, and Disney Tales of Magic takes that vision even further. Our teams have crafted something truly magical, an experience that will captivate and inspire guests for years to come. Building on our legacy of innovation, creativity, and storytelling, we’re excited for this show to become a lasting part of the story of Disneyland Park,” said Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris.
The Magic Within
Disney Tales of Magic is a celebration of the magic within us all. Throughout the show, guests will experience multiple magical stories from Walt Disney Animation Studios including Pinocchio, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Lilo & Stitch, and Encanto along with Pixar films including Coco, Inside Out, Toy Story and WALL-E.
Disneyland Paris described the show in the following way:
This show will celebrate the magic within each of us, evoking universal emotions tied to pursuing dreams, embarking on new adventures with friends, love, memories of loved ones, and the feeling of belonging to a group, a clan or simply a family. Driven by a powerful, intergenerational story, it will encourage everyone to relive the magical, unforgettable moments that have marked their lives.
The Magic of Technology
The magic of Disney Tales of Magic on Main Street, U.S.A. will come to life to provide a sensory journey for guests throughout the show. There will be 20 bright high-definition LED video projectors hidden throughout Main Street, U.S.A.. This will allow the space to be transformed into an enchanting setting during the show. At one point, it will be a grand ballroom where Cinderella and Prince Charming will waltz under the stars. At another, it will become the colorful Columbian village that is brought to life by the magic of the Madrigal family. At yet another point, rows of vibrant emotion-filled memory spheres from Riley’s mind will surround guests on Main Street, U.S.A. These are just some of the moments that will be experienced.
The show will be 20 minutes long and combine pyrotechnics, fountain displays, and cutting-edge technology to create this magical experience. It will include 60 brand new “ultra powerful lighting fixtures, 15 ultra-bright lasers, an all-new architectural LED lighting package, the iconic Star Flas strobes, as well as a new immersive audio system.” If that isn’t enough, there will also be drones forming 3D figures in the sky above the castle.
Disney Tales of Magic promises to redefine the magic of Disney and Pixar storytelling through its unique new technological display. To make all of this happen, over 17,500 hours of work were invested and leveraged with the most advanced 3D technologies. Disneyland Paris teams partnered with the expertise of London-based NorthHouse to help make the immersive visual experiences come to life with new levels of artistry and innovation.
The Magic of Music
Music will play a very important role in Disney Tales of Magic. It will include over 20 custom arrangements of music from Disney Animation and Pixar films. It will also have an original soundtrack that was composed exclusively for this production. This promises to “stir cherished memories while reinventing the classics in a fresh, vibrant style.” The central song for this soundtrack is called Live in Magic. This is an original song that is performed in both French and English by Noémie Legrand with a 100-piece orchestra that was recorded at the legendary Air Studios in London. The song was composed by Noémie Legrand, Tony Ferrari, and Lucky West and promises to be a truly moving experience for everyone.
Nighttime Spectaculars at Disneyland Paris
Disney Tales of Magic is only the fourth nighttime spectacular of its kind to debut at Disneyland Paris since it opened. Disney Dreams! was the first of this kind of show and it debuted in 2012. It raised the bar on what a nighttime castle show could be. This has led Disneyland Paris and Disney Parks around the world to continue to raise the bar with each new show. At Disneyland Paris, these nighttime spectaculars of been the recipients of awards for their creativity. Disney Electrical Sky Parade was recently named the European Top New Attraction 2024 by Parksmania Awards.
