Disney Treasure Christening

Disney Treasure Christened in New York City and Officially Joins the Disney Cruise Line Fleet

On Tuesday night, the Disney Cruise Line officially added another ship to its fleet. The Disney Treasure is the newest ship to join the fleet as it expands and more than doubles in size by 2031. In December, the Disney Treasure will make its maiden voyage out of its new home port of Port Canaveral, Florida.

During the ceremony, Bob Iger shared that “For more than 100 years, Disney stories have filled the world with joy and wonder, capturing the hearts and imaginations of generations across every continent. And since the launch of the Disney Cruise Line in 1998, our ships have become brand ambassadors that bring our world-class storytelling and the immersive nature of our theme parks to new audiences and new places all over the world.” He went on to express the importance of Disney’s cast members around the world and shared that they would be the godparents of the ship.

Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro added, “With the Disney Treasure, we continue to deliver an unparalleled family vacation at sea through the magic of Disney storytelling. The memories that our guests create on board this stunning ship, they will last a lifetime. So on behalf of our entire team, I’m honored to introduce you to the Disney Treasure.”

The christening continued with the Jordin Sparks opening and closing the program with the theme song for the ship. The program was full of Disney music, drones, and magic. Instead of a traditional bottle of champagne, it was instead represented by the shape of one created by drones over the ship. Bob Iger and others said, “And now on behalf of all cast, crew, and employees of The Walt Disney Company we christen thee, Disney Treasure. May God bless this ship and all who sail upon her.”
