Disney Cruise Line’s new ship, the Disney Treasure, recently marked a special milestone as it arrived to its homeport of Port Canaveral, Florida, in Brevard County, ahead of its maiden voyage on December 21, 2024. The ship was welcomed to Port Canaveral by hundreds of Disney cast members.
To celebrate the arrival of the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line is introducing Treasure Tomorrow, a new program that expands Disney’s commitment to creating lasting, positive impacts in the port communities it calls home across Florida and throughout the Caribbean. During the Disney Treasure’s inaugural season, Treasure Tomorrow will fund and support a variety of community-building efforts through career exploration programs for students in each port the Disney Treasure visits.

In Brevard County, where Disney Cruise Line has called home since 1998, Disney Cruise Line is teaming up with the Brevard Schools Foundation, an organization the cruise line has been proud to support for more than ten years.
Disney Cruise Line will sponsor career exploration programs for local students interested in the maritime industry as well as the tourism, hospitality and entertainment industries. Students will have the opportunity to step aboard the new ship, meet Disney cast and crew members, learn about careers at sea and discover first-hand the adventures aboard the Disney Treasure.
Disney Cruise Line’s investment in the communities where the Disney Treasure will visit spans across the Caribbean.
- In Falmouth, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Grand Cayman and Abaco, near where Disney Castaway Cay is located in The Bahamas, Disney Cruise Line is sponsoring Junior Achievement programs that empower and inspire the next generation of storytellers and innovators.
- In St. Thomas, Disney Cruise Line is working with the School Kids in the Park program to help students learn about conservation, coral reefs, native plants and sea turtles.
- In Tortola, Disney Cruise Line is collaborating with the Youth Empowerment Project and the Learning, Earning, and Achieving Dreams program, which introduces high school students to careers and leadership roles within the hospitality industry.
As part of Treasure Tomorrow, Disney Cruise Line cast and crew members will join in on the celebration and give back to the communities they live and work in through a variety of Disney VoluntEARS events across Florida and the Caribbean. The christening of the Disney Treasure will take place on November 19. Christening is a maritime tradition that brings good luck to the ship, its crew and all who sail on the vessel. It will be an evening full of one-of-a-kind moments, including a few special appearances and the first official look at the ship!
All Disney Cruise Line ships have “godparents” or a “fair godmother.” Disney Cruise Line has announced that the honorary role of “godparent” for its new ship, the Disney Treasure, will be held by The Walt Disney Company cast, crew, Imagineers and employees around the world.
The profound declaration is a heartfelt tribute to the more than 200,000 Cast Members and employees who make every Disney entertainment, vacation and at-home experience possible. Disney Cruise Line is proud to celebrate the magic makers from across the globe who have created meaningful, lifelong Disney memories for generations of families.
The first cruise for the Disney Treasure will be a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise when it departs on December 21st. This will be followed by the inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral.
