Season one of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy hasn’t even aired yet but the series has already been renewed for a second season. This last weekend at New York Comic Con the exciting news was shared. The first season still has a ways to go before arriving on Paramount+. It currently is in production in Toronto, Canada.
Along with announcing the second season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, it was also announced that Emmy Award winner Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) will be a recurring guest star in the first season. The announcement came during a surprise livestream from the set of the show. Robert Picard (Star Trek: Voyager, Starfleet Academy, Prodigy) introduced the livestream from set which included executive producer and co-showrunner Alex Kurtzman, who is currently directing the series. Kurtzman announced that Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has been greenlit for a second season alongside cast members including Sandro Rosta, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, and Zoë Steiner.

The series’ premiere episode is written by Gaia Violo. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
