The Animation Is Film Festival returns to Hollywood for its seventh edition October 18 through 20—and it’s enormously proud to present an early look at exclusive footage from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 63rd feature film, Moana 2!
Presented in-person by directors David Derrick, Jr., and Jason Hand, this exclusive sneak peek at film footage and behind-the-scenes is a must for Disney fans of all ages. In an Animation Is Film exclusive, alongside Moana and Maui, the film’s creators take us on journey across the perilous seas of Oceania, to discuss the making of a new classic. Featuring original art, music, and behind-the-scenes insights, this Making Of program is a must for animation fans and Disney fans of all ages.
The event is Saturday, October 19, at 12pm at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres at Ovation Hollywood, and has sold out.
Another panel that may be of interest is a special screenwriting class. Animation Is Film is partnering with Pixar and Write for Animation for a special Screenwriting Masterclass devoted to the making of Inside Out 2. Writer/producer Pietro Schito sits down with Inside Out 2‘s screenwriters Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein for a special talk about the craft of screenwriting. Everything is going to be okay, but tickets are going fast for this one. Don’t panic, but act quickly! This event is Sunday, October 20, at 3:30pm. Be sure to come out for a rare theatrical presentation of Disney Branded Television and Esperanto Filmoj’s short film, An Almost Christmas Story. Moon, a curious young owl, unexpectedly finds himself stuck in a Christmas tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza. In his attempts to escape the bustling city, Moon befriends a lost little girl named Luna. Together, they embark on a heartwarming adventure as they journey back home to their parents. Produced by Disney Branded Television and Esperanto Filmoj, “An Almost Christmas Story” will be streaming soon on Disney+.
The screening will be immediately followed with an in-person Q&A with director David Lowery and producer and Academy Award® winner Alfonso Cuaron. This event is Sunday, October 20, at 2pm.
