On this day in 1921, the original Winnie-the-Pooh teddy bear was given to Christopher Robin Milne, making it Pooh’s birthday! The toy was an 18-inch tall “Alpha Bear” made by J.K. Farnell. He was purchased at Harrods in London for Christopher Robin’s first birthday. The stuffed bear would be part of the inspiration for A. A. Milne’s famous stories. Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends now live at the New York Public Library, where 750,000 people visit them every year!
