On this day in 1947, the Donald Duck cartoon ‘Bootle Beetle’ was released. An elderly Bootle Beetle recounts his frightening experience with the dreaded bug collector, Donald Duck, convincing a youngster not to run away from home. This short marked the first of several appearances of the Bootle Beetle character, often paired as either a friend or foe of Donald. He was voiced by Dink Trout, who also appeared as the King of Hearts in ‘Alice in Wonderland.’
