On this day in 1960, the Sunkist Citrus House opened on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland. It occupied the space next to the Penny Arcade that is now home to Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor. For almost 30 years, the Sunkist Citrus House sold fresh squeezed orange juice, made by a semi-autonomous juicing machine that could process a whole basket of oranges at a time. Guests could also order ice cold lemonade, frozen juice bars, and locally-baked desserts.
