Inside Out 2 has become the second-highest grossing animated film. The film has surpassed The Super Mario Bros. Movie to take the second spot. In fact, it has done this twice. With its $578.3 million in North America and $1.37 billion globally, Inside Out 2 has passed up The Super Mario Bros. Movie both domestically and globally. Mario brought in $574.9 million in the United States and Canada along with $787.1 million internationally to earn $1.36 billion globally.
Inside Out 2 is already Pixar’s most successful film. It also was the fastest film to reach $1 billion and also the top movie of 2024 to date. If it keeps moving forward, it could end up being the top animated flick ever. Currently that spot is held by Frozen 2. It earned $1.45 billion globally at the box office.
Inside Out 2 continues the story of the emotions inside of a little girl named Riley’s head. However, Riley isn’t so little anymore. Now she is a teenager who is facing a bigger world with new situations. With these new things come new emotions. This includes Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos), Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser), and Nostalgia (June Squibb). They join returning characters Joy (Amy Pohler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Liza Lapira), Fear (Tony Hale), and Anger (Lewis Black). It is directed by Kelsey Mann.
