Tables have been set for fallen soldiers around the Disneyland Resort at multiple restaurants. These empty tables are in honor of those who served the United States and didn’t come back. They were found in New Orleans Square at Tiana’s Palace, Cafe Orleans, and the Blue Bayou Restaurant. These beautiful tribute tables each have a framed explanation on them. These tables arrived as the Memorial Day weekend begins.
The framed explanation on the tables say the following:
On This Memorial Day,
We Honor The Fallen SoldierThis table is reserved to honor our brave and selfless American military members who have perished on the battlefield, those who have not been returned to us after being taken prisoner on foreign soil, and for those who went missing and have not found their way back home.
The Table, which is set for one, is small, symbolizing the frailty of one isolated prisoner and everlasting conern on the part of the survivors for their missing loved ones.
The Tablecloth is white, symbolic of the purity of the service member’s intentions to respond to their country’s call to arms.
The Flags represent each individual branch of the Armed Forces flying in unity under the American flag.
The Single Red Rose in the vase, signifies the blood that many have shed in sacrifice to ensure the freedom of our beloved United States of America. This rose also reminds us of the family and friends of our missing comrades who keep the faith, while awaiting their return.
The Red Ribbon represents the love of our country, which inspired them to answer the nations call.
The Slice of Lemon on the bread plate represents the bitter fate of the missing. Salt sprinkled on the bread plate is symbolic of the countless fallen tears of families as they wait.
The Lit Candle is reminiscent of the light of hope which lives in our hearts to illuminate their way home, away from their captors, to the open arms of a grateful nation.
The Empty Chair symbolizes the missing and fallen are not present.
Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of May in the United States, is a solemn holiday dedicated to honoring and remembering the military personnel who have died in service to the country. Originating after the Civil War as Decoration Day, it was a time for Americans to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers. Over time, Memorial Day has evolved to include various traditions such as parades, ceremonies, and the decoration of graves with American flags. It also marks the unofficial start of summer, prompting family gatherings and barbecues, while serving as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces for the nation’s freedom and security.
This is a beautiful tribute at the Disneyland Resort for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
