Welcome to Wrexham

Season 3 of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ Arriving on May 2

The third season of Welcome to Wrexham will soon be available for fans of Wrexham AFC to watch. Originally slated to arrive in April, the season was pushed back to a release date of May 2nd on FX and then also on Hulu. This series follows Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as they purchase a football team in Wales and attempt to bring it back to its former glory.

The third season of Welcome to Wrexham sees the team having found success and promoted to the English Football League. Its next level for promotion would see it heading to the third-tier League One. With the promotion comes new challenges and goals. The team also continues to work to become financially sound. It currently owes Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney $11.3 million. “The club is under no immediate pressure to repay these loans at the expense of the progress we seek to achieve,” Wrexham said, “and further financial support will be provided/secured to support the capital expenditure projects the club is currently planning.”

However, as the team continues to see more success on and off the field, it is confident that it will be able to repay the duo and also continue to build to the future. This includes expanding capacity of its Racecourse Ground stadium. Officially called the STōK Cae Ras, it is the world’s oldest international football stadium still in continuous use. This legacy began on March 5, 1877, when Wales hosted Scotland for its first home game.

There are quite a few storylines that the third season of Welcome to Wrexham could focus on. The most obvious is the continued quest of the team to reach the Premier League after ending season two by reaching the English Football League. The season could also focus on the team’s trip to America last year for some friendly matches around the country. Paul Mullins was injured fairly seriously during one of these matches and that could also be a storyline. Whatever the storyline is, expect there to be a focus on the team and its connection with the town and people of Wrexham. This series isn’t just about football, it’s about the people who love this game and team. This includes those who are officially part of a team, the fans, and more.
