The Marvels Home Entertainment Review

‘The Marvels’ – Mr. Daps’ Home Entertainment Review

The Marvels is now available for digital download on various platforms. In this Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) has taken back her identity from the Kree and then taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. However, the law of unintended consequences steps up in full effect and Carol soon finds herself shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. As she investigates an anomalous wormhole that is linked to a Kree revolutionary, she soon finds that her power are entangled with Kamala Kahn AKA Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). Soon, the three find that they must work together to save the stability of the universe and places they love. This must be done whether they want to work together or not.

Quality

Watching The Marvels was an enjoyable viewing experience. For the most part, the effects are what one would expect from a movie from Marvel Studios. The sets and locations used in the film looked really great I thought. I also thought the characters and costume design was solid. The audio that accompanied this was equally solid. There was only one point in the movie where I really questioned the look of an effect. Overall, this was a good viewing and listening experience that I found very enjoyable.

Extras

There were several extras included with The Marvels. For the most part, I really enjoyed them. In fact, I think I would really like to see more released with the film. There were definitely some things done in the movie that would be interesting to see behind the scenes more about. I really enjoyed the Entangled featurette and the deleted scenes the most. The Production Diaries were fun but left me wanting more. The gag reel was more enjoyable than most and I was glad to watch it. The Audio Commentary was enjoyable as well. I do think I would have liked more people to be a part of it, perhaps adding Brie Larson.

The Marvels

Final Thoughts

First off, I missed seeing The Marvels in theaters as I was out of the country. That being said, I really enjoyed getting to see it and review it. I think I would have really enjoyed seeing it in theaters as well. I thought the story was fun, the characters were solid and diverse, and overall it felt like a fun Marvel Studios movie. I really think this was more enjoyable than some of the other recent MCU movies and shows. As I finished watching it I found myself smiling and also looking forward to where this could take the MCU. I do think there were a few places that could have been better but that would be nitpicking to get into that. I enjoyed watching the bonus features and sat down and watched them all at once. I really wish there had been more. Overall, watching The Marvels was a very enjoyable experience and one I would like to share with friends. This is definitely a movie that is worth watching and worth adding to the home entertainment library. I give this a solid hat tip.
