There were several films from Disney and Pixar that were released on Disney+ instead of the theaters due to the impacts of the pandemic. Now, these films are getting a chance to be seen on the big screen (which really is how every Pixar film should be seen at least once). The first film that will be arriving in theaters is Soul. Disney and Pixar’s Soul will be arriving in theaters this weekend. It officially arrives on January 12, 2024. Soul will be accompanied by the SparkShort Burrow.
Soul Official Description
What is it that makes you…YOU? “Soul” introduces Joe Gardner (voice of Jamie Foxx) – a middle-school band teacher who has a passion for jazz. “Joe wants more than anything to become a professional jazz pianist,” says director Pete Docter. “So when he’s offered a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play with one of the greats, Joe feels he’s reached the top of the ultimate mountain.”
But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. According to Docter, the idea for this unique world was 23 years in the making. “It started with my son—he’s 23 now—but the instant he was born, he already had a personality,” says Docter. “Where did that come from? I thought your personality developed through your interaction with the world. And yet, it was pretty clear that we’re all born with a very unique, specific sense of who we are.
Burrow Official Description
In Disney and Pixar’s new short film “Burrow,” a young rabbit embarks on a journey to dig the burrow of her dreams, despite not having a clue what she’s doing. Rather than reveal to her neighbors her imperfections, she digs herself deeper and deeper into trouble. After hitting (bed)rock bottom, she learns there is no shame in asking for help.
Following the release of Soul in theaters, Turning Red and then Luca will be headed to theaters. Turning Red arrives in theaters on February 9 and Luca on March 22. Turning Red will be accompanied by the SparkShort Kitbull. Luca will have the classic Pixar short For the Birds accompanying it.
