If the trailer is any indication of the future success of Disney’s Wish, the House of Mouse has a lot to look forward to. Disney shared this week that the trailer it released for the animated film was the biggest trailer since the promotional efforts for Frozen 2. The trailer garnered 66.5 million views across all of Disney’s online platforms. It has moved passed the teaser trailer, which was released in April, by nearly 20 million views. It also is the most viewed Disney trailer on TikTok ever.
The animated musical is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 62nd feature film. It is being released as the studio is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The first film from the studios was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This movie has many nods to past Disney films through the years as it tells the story of the power of wishing upon a star.
Disney Wish Official Description
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wish” is an all-new musical-comedy welcoming audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen. Featuring the voices of Academy Award®-winning actor Ariana DeBose as Asha, Chris Pine as Magnifico, and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino, the film is helmed by Oscar®-winning director Chris Buck (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (“Raya and the Last Dragon”), and produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster Jones (“Encanto”). Jennifer Lee (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) executive produces—Lee and Allison Moore (“Night Sky,” “Manhunt”) are writers on the project. With original songs by Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, plus score by composer Dave Metzger, “Wish” opens only in theaters on Nov. 22, 2023.
Wish will be released on November 22, 2023. This movie will answer the age old question of how the Wishing Star came to be. It is perhaps a way that many wouldn’t expect, when Asha makes a wish one night she ends up meeting Star,” an energetic and cosmic character from the starry sky which she unintentionally summoned with her wish. This all happens in the magical kingdom of Rosas, which is ruled by King Magnifico (Chris Pine). King Magnifico also is Disney’s newest villain, who’s creation was inspired by classic Disney villains like the Evil Queen and Maleficent.
