New “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” Clip Digs Into Number One’s Background

A new clip for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds continues the story of Number One’s story moving forward by looking into the past. It shows Una on trial for hiding the fact that she was genetically engineered. The clip shows how Number One pleads and then moments from the trial as Captain Pike and crew watch. There are moments that are reminiscent of Court Martial from Star Trek: The Original Series in this clip that was shown on Friday at MCM London Comic Con. Watch Una’s Trial Begins below.

Along with a new clip from the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds arriving, new photos from the season have also been released and co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman shared how this show deals with getting closer to the events of The Original Series. All of this give some hints as to what might be seen throughout the season. It appears that there will be a variety of different adventures that range from the courtroom to some adventure, potential time travel, the crossover with the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks, and the return of Paul Wesley as Kirk. Check out the photos below.

Akiva Goldsman said about the lining up of the Strange New Worlds stories with the established canon found in The Original Series to the Den of Geek Magazine:

“The closer we get to that moment, just after ‘Where No Man Has Gone Before,’ we have to acknowledge canon. And the closer we get, we have to start to resemble The Original Series.” Why after “Where No Man Has Gone Before?” Well, for Goldsman, The Original Series as we know it doesn’t really start until we get the core cast (including Dr. McCoy) and everybody else in their “correct” uniform colors, which wasn’t really the case until a few episodes into the show’s production run.

That said, Goldsman knows not everything can stay in this nebulous in-between stage forever, and firmly believes the series could safely continue for seven years before hitting real TOS problems.

“If we were so lucky as to continue, I think we could even overlap. I think that would really be interesting to actually rub up against The Original Series.”
