Anyone who has walked through Adventureland recently has seen work happening on what was once the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse and then Tarzan’s Treehouse. Today, the Disneyland Resort shared what the plan is for this massive tree found in Adventureland.
First off, the icon will now be called the Adventureland Treehouse. It will pay tribute to the original treehouse that Walt Disney and his Imagineers built in 1962 for the hit movie Swiss Family Robinson. The Adventureland Treehouse inspired by Walt Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson will be opening at Disneyland sometime in 2023.
When guests visit the Adventureland Treehouse, they will get to see how it shows off the beautiful environments that have been created among the branches of this giant tree that is along the shores of the Jungle Rivers. Guests will once again be entering the treehouse by the giant waterwheel. They will then be able to climb up the wood rope stairways into the branches. This is much as it was many years ago before the new entrance was created for Tarzan’s Treehouse.

Once guests climb up into the branches of the Adventureland Treehouse, they will get to see some different rooms that the family created for each other. This is all based on a new story. There will be the mother’s music den (as shown in the concept art provided by Disney above). As guests explore the tree further they will find the young son’s nature room and the teenage daughter’s astronomy loft. Everything will be “fashioned from found objects, natural resources, and pure ingenuity” Disney shared in a post on the Disney Parks Blog today.
Down below on the ground, there will be things to be seen and explored as well. This will include an ingenious kitchen and dining room. The father’s art studio will also be on the ground and display hand-drawn sketches and paintings of each of the rooms in the treehouse.
Walt Disney Imagineering is working hard to bring this classic treehouse back in a new way. The result promises to be a magical experience that guests will love as they explore this treehouse and imagine what it would be like to live in a treehouse at Disneyland.
At this time, Disneyland has not announced an opening date for the attraction. Guests will be eagerly awaiting the opening of the Adventureland Treehouse and Daps Magic will be on hand when it opens to show all of the details new and old.
