The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds flew over Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom today. The Walt Disney World Resort flyover today was a prelude to the beginning of National Veterans and Military Families Month in November. The flyover also takes place as the U.S. Air Force celebrates its 75th anniversary and Walt Disney World Resort celebrates its 50th.
The Thunderbirds flew over Magic Kingdom twice during the event at Walt Disney World Resort. In a post on Facebook, the Thunderbirds said, “Today was magical! We were privileged today to flyover the Magic Kingdom Park Disney Parks not just once, but twice! In celebration of the Air Force’s 75th birthday, and Disney’s 50th our two organizations were able to come together to inspire so many to chase their dreams. Thank you Disney for this once in a lifetime opportunity, and for all you do for past and present military members and their families, with programs like Heroes Work Here and the employee resource group SALUTE.”
The Thunderbirds are made up of six F-16 Fighting Falcons that are assigned to the 57th Wing. They are based at Nellis Air Force Base. They were last at Walt Disney World in 2020 to honor fallen military heroes. During this flyover, the Thunderbirds were seen soaring of EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth.
