San Fransokyo Coming to Disney California Adventure

During A Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experiences And Products Panel at the D23 Expo, Disney’s Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro shared about many of the exciting things that are coming and being dreamed about for Disney Parks and beyond. At the Disneyland Resort in particular, there is a lot to look forward to. There is a new firework spectacular on the horizon, a new World of Color, and a new attraction for Avengers Campus. All of the announcements (and the full video of the panel) can be found here.

Fans of Big Hero 6 will be excited by one of D’Amaro’s announcements in particular. This involves a reimagining of a section of Disney California Adventure. The Pacific Wharf is that area getting the reimagining and when it is finished it will look like San Fransokyo. The whole area will be inspired by the Oscar-winning film from Disney Animation Studios. It will also have a place where fans will be able to meet Baymax. The reimagined area will also include new places to eat and also places to shop. Concept art for what the area will look like was also shared by D’Amaro.

Pacific Wharf in Disney California Adventure park will be reimaged as San Fransokyo from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Big Hero 6,” where East meets West and technology meets tradition. Imagineers are in the early phases of this work, but there is something coming for children of all ages, for the young and young at heart. There will be a place to meet Baymax, plus new spots to eat and shop. (Artist Concept)
