Johnson & Wales University Added to Disney Aspire Offerings

The Walt Disney Company has added a new program to Disney Aspire. Johnson & Wales University has been added as another school for Disney employees looking to further their education. The university is the only accredited institution in the United States that offers 100% online culinary programming. This is done with a multimedia environment. This is also the first in-network offering joining Disney Aspire with the only focus on culinary arts.

Disney Aspire is an educational investment and career development program that offers 100% tuition paid upfront. The addition of the culinary arts school is beneficial also for The Walt Disney Company, which has over 600 food and beverage locations through its domestic Disney parks alone. This could help hourly employees of The Walt Disney Company with their career goals and create new opportunities for joining the culinary team in multiple roles in the coming two years.

“As we celebrate 50 years of culinary excellence at Johnson & Wales, we honor our foundation in tradition while looking ahead to constantly evolve to meet today’s changing world,” said Jason Evans, Ph.D., dean of the College of Food Innovation and Technology at Johnson & Wales University. “Our world-class chefs create their curriculum with our fast-paced industry in mind, truly setting our students up for success in the real world.”

“Much like Disney, Johnson & Wales is committed to being cutting-edge, staying on top of trends, and ensuring what their students learn today are things they can put into practice tomorrow,” said Chris Trout, vice president of learning and development at The Walt Disney Company. “Their dedication to being innovative global leaders in the culinary space is the exact sort of momentum we need to help inspire culinary career mobility at our company.”

Disney Aspire partners with Guild to enable over 82,000 hourly part-time and full-time employees and cast members around the United States to return to work. Currently, there are more than 13,000 employees enrolled in the program. The program offers post-graduate support to help employees achieve their career dreams either at Disney or also beyond.

Disney Aspire removes barriers to education and contributes to Disney’s talent pipeline by:

  • Covering 100% of tuition upfront, as well as reimbursements for required books and fees
  • Offering an enhanced program and degree catalog that aligns with predicted future of work trends
  • Providing individual student success coaching from start to finish through Guild
  • Enabling graduates to prepare for career growth through the Disney Aspire Alumni Association and other extensive post-graduate support
