A new teaser for the third season of Star Trek: Lower Decks was released today. The teaser appears to give a nod to some of the events of Star Trek: The Search for Spock, the third Star Trek film with the original crew of the Enterprise. The teaser was released at Star Trek: Mission Chicago and shows the stakes for the crew of the Cerritos are higher than ever. This comes after a cliffhanger ending for the second season of the show.

STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS focuses on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi have to keep up with their duties and their social lives, often while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies.
As can be seen in the trailer, it looks like the lower decks crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos is thinking of taking similar actions as Admiral Kirk and crew did in the events of Star Trek: The Search for Spock. Hopefully, it turns out better for the Cerritos than it did for the Enterprise. How similar they end up remains to be seen until the third season Star Trek: Lower Decks arrives exclusively on Paramount+ sometime later this year.
