New Milestone Reached as Center Harmonious Barge is Moved into Place at EPCOT

A new milestone was reached overnight as the center barge for Harmonious was moved into place. The news was released this morning via social media by Imagineer Zach Riddley followed by a post on the Disney Parks Blog. Riddley shared that while progress continues to be made on the upcoming show, an opening date has not been decided on.

Riddley shared, “Early in our plans for the transformation of EPCOT, we recognized the power and potential this new show has to tell a story of global connection and celebration. This grand, original spectacular is a tribute to the power of story and song that unite us, leveraging music and visuals from across Disney and artists around the world.”

He continued saying, “Harmonious is a global effort, truly embracing the magic of possibility. In recent weeks, Disney Live Entertainment technical designers across the country have been programming various elements of the show, from media and fountains to lighting and pyrotechnics, working in a completely virtual environment. Our music producers at Walt Disney Imagineering have been remotely directing recording sessions with an incredibly diverse array of musical artists, performing in studios around the world.”

Once it is finished, Harmonious is being billed as being one of the largest nighttime spectaculars ever produced by Disney. The center platform that was moved into place contains a six-story-tall central ring structure. This structure supports a high-density water curtain, moving lights, fountains, and more. There are five floating platforms in total that will be included in the show.

The show is still not complete so expect more details to be released in the coming months. What do you think of what you are seeing of Harmonious so far? Are you excited about it? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
