Last week, the Mars Perseverance rover touched down on the red planet. To celebrate this huge development, National Geographic and NASA have come together to create an augmented reality experience that brings the reality of outer space into your home!
This interactive experience lets you become the Perseverance rover in your own home! The Mars AR allows you to see from the point-of-view of the rover as it rolls around the surface of the planet. You can see a 360-degree view of the planet that allows you to be fully immersed. National Geographic paired up with scientists at NASA including Roger Weins (SUPERCAM), Christina Diaz (PIXL), and Jim Bell (Mastcam-Z).
If you want to see the Perseverance experience for yourself, you can check out the link on your mobile device HERE. This AR experience will go along with the March issue of National Geographic which explores our history with Mars as well as another interactive space experience! You can unlock that opportunity at natgeo.com/space.
