Disney+ Named Named Apple TV App of the Year by Apple

Apple has recognized Disney+ as the Apple TV app of 2020. This comes after the recent announcement by Disney that the streaming service had reached 73.7 million subscribers since launching in November 2019.

Disney+ was also the third most downloaded iPhone free app globally. This distinction came after Zoom and TikTok took first and second place. For iPads, Disney+ was the second most downloaded free app after Zoom. According to Apple, Disney+ “offered a sense of unlimited possibility that many craved.”

Over on the Android system, Disney+ was voted as the number 1 app of 2020 by Google Play users.

Disney+ launched on November 12, 2019. It is the streaming home for Disney properties that include Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, and 20th Century Studios. It has brought original programming like Muppets Now!, The Mandalorian, and multiple movies and other programming as well. Each month it continues to add new programming and new subscribers.
