As we draw closer to the opening of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, we get a clearer picture of how the parks will look when they reopen. This week, Walt Disney World updated their website to reflect that Oga’s Cantina would not be reopening with Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15.
Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge recreates the cantina experience that fans have seen in Star Wars for over 40 years. Part of this experience means fitting as many people in the building as possible to capture the hustle and bustle of these outposts. Of course, this model isn’t safe at this moment as this small space wouldn’t be able to safely house guests in a way that would allow distancing.
The cantina may open at a later date when Disney can safely allow guests inside once again but it is unclear when that may be. Though I love Oga’s Cantina and what it brings to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, I recognize that this is for the best and that there are still plenty of fun opportunities to snack on something from another galaxy or even sip blue milk while you experience Batuu!
