Shanghai, December 19, 2019 – Shanghai Disney Resort today announced that after eighteen enchanting months of delivering unforgettable entertainment at the resort’s Walt Disney Grand Theatre, the Mandarin production of Disney’s classic Broadway musical, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will be extended past its 500th show on January 5, 2020. With another 50 shows added to its run, Guests can continue to enjoy this ‘tale as old as time,’ throughout the lunar New Year festivities. The 550th performance will take place on February 23, 2020, making the Mandarin production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST one of the longest-running Broadway musicals in China.
Taking guests of all ages back into the thrilling fairy tale world of Belle, Beast, Gaston and so many other fan favorites, the Mandarin production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the second collaboration between Shanghai Disney Resort and Disney Theatrical Productions. This production follows the great success of the Mandarin production of THE LION KING and its unforgettable 500 show run at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre from 2016 to 2017.

During the week of January 5, guests will have the chance to celebrate the show’s incredible milestone with a variety of exclusive experiences and surprises. Guests who attend shows during this exciting week will also be treated to a special curtain call performance, a chance to get photos with performers and many other special surprises!
Led by the original Broadway creative team, the Mandarin production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST has been expertly reimagined to connect and resonate with domestic audiences. Guests can enjoy Chinese-language versions of beloved songs, localized humor, and incredible performers found from across the country, including Gloria Guo as Belle, Sun Douer as Beast, Kain Liu as Gaston, Jo Xu as Mrs. Potts, Mao Haifei as Lumiere, Peng Pai as Cogsworth, Li Xiang as Lefou, Fred Ma as Maurice, Quinn Miao as Madame de la Grande Bouche and Ura Li as Babette.
