Mickey’s Soundsational Parade made its last run along the parade route on Disneyland 64th birthday this week. The percussive parade had been making its way through Disneyland on and off for the last 8 years. Mickey’s Soundsational Parade officially debuted on May 27, 2011. Since then, it has made magic for guests with its live percussionists, fantastic performers, and magical Disney characters.
The final parade was wonderfully performed and everyone both in the parade and watching it really seemed to be enjoying it. The performers went above and beyond to make a very magical final parade performance. As the parade went by, guests and cast members alike clapped and cheered for this parade.
Mickey’s Soundsational Parade has lasted longer than most recent parades at the Disneyland Resort. Since the 45th anniversary, typically Disneyland parades last less than five years… if that. While Mickey’s Soundsational Parade did take a hiatus during the Pixar Fest celebration, it has been the stable parade at the Disneyland Resort. Following its closure, Mickey and Friends Band-tastic Cavalcade will be making its way along the parade route. Then the Main Street Electrical Parade will take over for a limited run.
DAPS MAGIC was on hand in 2011 for the soft opening and then official opening of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. The team also covered the closure of the parade. Mickey’s Soundsational Parade has made many magical memories for the guests who have watched it and the performers who were a part of it. While it is sad to see it go, it will be fun to see what comes next.
