This year’s Chinese New Year will be celebrating the Year of the Pig! This celebration will be had at Disney Parks around the globe. With live entertainment, food, merchandise, and other experiences, Disney Parks will be bringing Disney magic to the Year of the Pig.
Shanghai Disney Resort
At the Shanghai Disney Resort guests will be able to celebrate the Year of the Pig from January 19 to February 19. There will be vibrant Mickey lanterns, Chinese couplets, floral garlands, paper decorations and more. The Garden of the Twelve Friends will be transformed into the Wishing Garden.
Near the Storytellers Statue each morning, guests will be able to experience the traditional drum ceremony. There will also be special performances with Mickey and the gang of Shanghai Swing. At the Wishing Star Market, the Chinese New Year carnival will come to life. On various dates throughout the celebration, Ignite the Dream: A Nighttime Spectacular of Magic and Light will be capped off with the Chinese New Year 2019 Firework Celebration: A Feast of Love and Light. This will happen on January 25–26, every day from February 4–10, and on the Lantern Festival on February 19. There will also be themed food and merchandise opportunities throughout the entire celebration.
Hong Kong Disneyland
The Hong Kong Disneyland Chinese New Year festivities are running now through February 24. There is a God of Fortune Goofy Celebration Moment at the Castle Hub Stage for guests to participate in. Mickey, Minnie, and all their friends are wearing new Chinese New Year outfits for guests to take pictures with. The Three Little Pigs – Fiddler, Fifer and Practical will be on hand to meet in Fantasyland.
Hong Kong Disneyland is the place to be for merchandise lovers during the Chinese New Year festivities. Over 50 themed merchandise offerings are available. Food lovers will be equally happy to learn that there are 60 themed food and beverage offerings. These range from complete menus to snacks. From February 5 to 9, newly designed Lai See packets will also be distributed to guests entering the park while supplies lasts. These include a chocolate gold coin and a merchandise, food and beverage coupon.
Disney California Adventure – Disneyland Resort
At the Disneyland Resort, the Lunar New Year Celebration will kick off in Disney California Adventure from January 25 through February 17. Throughout the course of this celebration, guests will get to experience Asian culture through food, music, and entertainment. This year, Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession will return and include the Three Little Pigs. There will also be found unique Asian marketplaces to pay homage to Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine. For extra luck, guests will be able to add their wishes to the Lucky Wishing Wall in the park.
