Are you ready for the newest addition to the Disney-Pixar lineup? Today, Pixar Animation Studios gave some of their casting lineup for the upcoming release “Onward”, slated for theaters in 2020.
The film will call upon some familiar voices such as Chris Pratt (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Tom Holland (“Spiderman: Homecoming”), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”) and Octavia Spencer (“The Shape of Water”). Directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae, the team behind 2013’s “Monsters University,” “Onward” will take a suburban fantasy town and turn it on its head.
The film focuses on two brothers who embark on a quest to find if magic still exists in the universe. Scanlon noted that ” “At Pixar, we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth (…) this film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother.”
Each member of this celebrity cast has brought something new and different to the table. Whether it be Pratt’s heart or Holland’s charm and sincerity, we already know this will be a memorable heartfelt film!
We simply can’t wait for the future of Pixar and these animated films! Earlier this month, it was announced Domee Shi, the director behind the Pixar short Bao, would be getting an opportunity at her own full-length film. The future is bright and we can’t wait to pack those theater seats to see what is coming!
