Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe Delights for A Quick Bite On Main Street

Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe Brings Lighter Fare to Main Street

Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is an idyllic spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On the West corner of Main Street as you turn the corner towards Adventureland, you will find the cafe. Behind the beautiful archway, a garden patio offers seating shaded by umbrellas.

Within the quick service restaurant, two lines diverge and move quickly. If you have a moment, notice the adorable inclusions from the Disney Classic, Marry Poppins.

For breakfast, choose from the many fresh pastries displayed in the case. After 10:30 am, a light cafe menu including soup, salads, and sandwiches is also available. Additionally, a full service espresso menu is served all day, featuring classic cafe lattes, cappuccinos, and mochas.

A Practically Perfect Lunch

On this sunny Wednesday afternoon, my friend and I decided to try a classic along with a few more adventurous choices. The house specialty is the classic combination of grilled cheese and tomato soup. Of course we had to try the Jolly Holiday Combo!

My entree selection was the Grilled Chicken and Strawberry Spinach Salad. This salad features candied pecans, goat cheese, pickled red onions, and a strawberry balsamic dressing.

For dessert, we decided to try the Matterhorn Macaroon. This coconut cookie is shaped like the namesake mountain and is topped with white chocolate snow.

As Classic as Marry Poppins Herself

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup has a special place in many of our hearts, as a quintessential childhood illness cure. Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe steps it up a notch with tomato basil soup and a “toasted cheese sandwich.”

Toasted white bread sandwiches cheddar and mozzarella cheese. The sandwich is served after the cheese has cooled a bit, leaving something to be desired. Perhaps next time it would be worth the trouble to ask for a fresher sandwich in order to best enjoy a melty texture.

The tomato basil soup is creamy and tangy, without being too heavy.

Individually, the items that make up this plate are not that special, it’s really all in the dip. Together, the flavors and textures add up to a trip down memory lane.

A Super(califragilisticexpialidocious) Salad

The Grilled Chicken and Strawberry Spinach Salad was seriously delicious. I have tried the hearty Grilled Vegetable and Whole-Grain Salad before and enjoyed it, but the inclusion of chicken drew me to this new choice.

The serving size is perfect. A large portion of grilled and chilled chicken tops several in-season strawberries, pecans, pickled red onion, on a bed of mostly spinach with mixed greens.

Each Jolly Holiday salad is served with a breadstick. This inclusion seemed unnecessary until I used it to sneak a dip of the Tomato Basil Soup.

The strawberry balsamic dressing is a thick vinaigrette. The sweetness of the fruit brings balance to the vinegar flavor. An example of how “a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down,” if you will.

The goat cheese adds perfect cool, creaminess to this salad while the pickled red onions add sharpness.

My very favorite topping was the candied pecans. Although “candied” indicates sweetness, I only tasted notes of cinnamon and nutmeg spices added to the nuts. This unexpected flavor addition made a great addition.

Sweet Mountainside Snack

Among the multitude of pastries available, the Matterhorn Macaroon stands out. The unique type of treat and shape made it a fun choice. I have never had a fresh-made macaroon, so I was unsure what to expect.

Upon taking my first bite, I realized what I have been missing out on! The sweet coconut cookie had a variety of textures that made each bite more enjoyable. The edges were crispy while the center was soft and gooey.

The white chocolate topping replicating the Matterhorn’s snowcap sweetened the top half. Meanwhile, the darker sections had a great caramelized flavor thanks to the toasted coconut. The size is great for a small sweet snack or dessert.

Overall, the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is a practically perfect place to grab a lighter bite and enjoy eating outdoors. This is a timeless Disneyland eatery that I recommend you add to your list for lunch!
