On July 17, 1972 the Main Street Electrical Parade first lit up the parade route at Disneyland. 45 years later, it made its way through the heart of Disneyland. For the last 45 years this parade has made nighttime magic at a Disney Theme Park for guests from around the world. As the music of the Baroque Hoedown begins fans still begin to cheer to the unique sound. It has performed both at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. It has inspired other parades that have been presented at Disney theme parks around the globe! Now 45 years later, it is back to where it all started.
With a half million lights, this parade truly lights up the night. This has become even more magical since it has not been at the Disneyland Park since 1996. During the original run at Disneyland, the Electrical Parade was performed over 3,600 times for more than 75 million guests. From 2001-2010 the parade returned to the Disneyland Resort where it lit up the nights at Disney California Adventure. Currently the Main Street Electrical Parade is scheduled to end its run on August 20, 2017.
