Disney has released a brand new trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The preview was shown as a commercial during the Super Bowl with an extended video released on YouTube. The video shows more scenes from the upcoming movie, and some more speculation.
Compared to the first trailer there’s still little to no Jack Sparrow shown in the trailer. There is plenty of Captain Salazar, though. He is throughout a lot of scenes, including one where he ambushes Barbossa. Barbossa looks to be taking up duds similar to his England officer days, though it’s unknown if he is back to being a pirate.
There is vagueness dealing with the plot, though an ominous warning tells a bit more. The warning is a female character saying “the dead have taken over the seas.” What helps emphasize this is in the extended trailer (below this recap) an “undead” sea bird is tormenting a pirate sailor.
One very quick image is something that will have many astir. It’s of Orlando Bloom in his Will Turner/Davy Jones role. He’s looking a bit like his father in a cap and having some barnacles on the side of his face. It’s still unclear what role he’ll play in the film, but it doesn’t seem to bode well for him avoiding the same fate as Davy Jones. It also means he is still captain of the Flying Dutchman.
Along with the trailer are a few stills from the upcoming film. A couple are freezes from the trailer, but there’s a couple that show more of the intimidating villain.
The movie will be out in May of this year, and there is certainly going to be more and more information as it gets closer. Be sure to check out the extended trailer below, and let us know what you think of it all in the comments!
