Time to add another one to the list! The Hollywood Reporter and several other sources share that the Walt Disney Company plans to create a live-action Mulan film. You heard that correct, the 1998 animated film is scheduled to be released in November 2018.
Currently, a global wide casting call has been set in place for the lead female role. As for the writing team, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are on-board to rewrite a script that was handed to the company back in 2015.
The Hollywood Reporter continues to say:
The Disney team saw the spec, by Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin, as a jumping-off point for a more nuanced and elaborate adaptation, combining the legendary Chinese ballad and the 1998 animated film.
A director for Mulan has yet to be announced. Jason Reed is attached to produce along with Chris Bender and Jake Weiner.
No further word has been released yet on potential cast members.
