Today Disneyland celebrated 57 years since Walt Disney originally said “to all who come to this happy place, welcome!” The celebration took place in Town Square at 2:30 pm with characters streaming (flash mob style) into the area that was surrounded by thousands of guests. These characters included many princesses (most with their prince as well), the Fab Five and many other Disney favorites! They carried balloons as they entered Town Square. If it weren’t for the music, one could close their eyes and almost think they were at some sort of sports game.
Once the characters had entered Town Square, Walt Disney’s opening day speech was played over the loud speakers. This was followed by everyone being invited to join in singing “Happy Birthday to You” for Disneyland. Once the song was over, A Dream is a Wish began playing and characters began to give away their Mickey ear balloons. Before the characters left, they all made their way around Town Square so all the guests could see them.
After the ceremony, Town Square quickly emptied out and a long line to Disney California Could be seen if one moved out into the Esplanade.
