Tapestry of Nations | DISNEY THIS DAY | September 9, 2001
Sep 9, 2026
On this day in 2001, the Tapestry of Nations parade at EPCOT ran for the last time. Part of the 15-month Millennium Celebration, the parade was dedicated to peace, unity, and the human spirit. Artist Michael Curry, who designed the puppets for ‘The Lion King’ on Broadway, created 120 elaborate 18-foot puppets for the parade. They were led by the stiltwalking Sage of Time with 150 performers, 720 drums, 19 torch towers, fountains of fire, and a sweeping symphonic score. The celebration of the century would return with modifications as Tapestry of Dreams. [25 years ago in 2026]
