Welcome to Geeks Corner. I'm Mr. Daps. I'm Katie. And we're so excited that you're here on
0:22
the week of Katie's birthday. Ah. Hence why there's presents that will
0:28
be in the after show for DAPS after dark which is on our Patreon. Speaking of our Patreon, uh
0:34
patreon.com/dapsmagic if you just want to get ahead of it and be a part of the after show where these
0:39
presents will be. Uh you can also comment wherever you are and you can also subscribe wherever you are and join
0:46
uh join the fun. Exactly. But did you know Disney's Animal Kingdom's Tree of Life stands 145
0:54
feet tall and features 337 sculpted animals in its trunk. Have you
1:00
counted them all? Sure haven't. I have not either. No. But uh that's okay. Uh yep. It's an
1:07
exciting week in the chat. And for Katie's birthday, it also is an exciting
1:12
week to talk about Muppets. Thanks, Daddy. Mr. Thank you, Mr. Daddy. Thanks, man. Mr. Thank you, Mr. Daddy.
1:19
Thanks, man. So, not only did we get a new Muppet this week that was honored like we do
1:25
every week, but we learned that Muppets or Rock and Roller Coaster with the Muppets uh or starring the Muppets,
1:32
whatever it is, uh will be opening next summer at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It will be fantastic. And uh maybe one of
1:40
the Muppets we will see there is Lips. I would I would assume we would see
1:46
Lips. I was like this actually works because uh the electric mayhem are going to be front and central to the uh the
1:53
attraction. We are running out of space on this this graphic graphic this sheet whatever you want to
1:59
call it. We have to do a part one and part two of the which or make it a video. I don't know like it's going to be a trick but
2:05
uh who do we think is going to be next? Gonzo I think we just have to like um
2:12
see I will show you sometime what a mopathon is. Um, I can think of a time. Uhhuh. Yes. Um, yeah. I mean, Gonzo's
2:20
fine. Stop. What? Okay. You know what? I'm mad that the second I stopped saying lips and I moved on to Gonzo, Lips gets
2:26
chosen. Okay. So, I need to stick to my guns. I need to stick You think Gonzo might be this next week.
2:33
As you said that, the wall behind you turned green. I know. It's Well, it's because right now it's somehow stuck in um an audio
2:42
like when it gets loud. That's what sets it off. Interesting. Yeah. I'm not I don't love it.
2:47
Oh, so it's when I talk, but the controllers aren't working super well. So, I don't know what's going on with that, but um I think Gonzo's a good
2:55
guess. Ganso is the one we've been going with the last few weeks. Well, I think uh Bailey and I have been. And um join
3:02
the team. It'll be great. Yeah. I am the captain of team Gonzo. Oh, are you? Actually, I'm not the captain of team
3:08
Gonzo. Oh, little Gonzo is the captain of team Gonzo. Okay.
3:13
Her name is actually Tiana, but she acts more like Gonzo as the dog who has thrown herself off
3:19
the couch like three times this week. Yeah. I mean, it'd be interesting. I I'd be okay with with Gonzo. It It's also
3:26
getting to a point where we're now either going like Miss Piggy or Gonzo or
3:31
more obscure ones again, which it's very possible we're going to go obscure for for a couple weeks. Like,
3:38
I don't know. I can't do more obscure. Um,
3:44
okay. So, everybody's team Gonzo tonight. Okay. Oh, the lights changed again. I didn't even realize
3:49
it is. It's Halloween time. This is so fun. It's something. I don't love it. Oh my gosh. We're just like Teao Hernandez.
3:55
They're all right. Moving on into the news. Michael Morardi. Today it was announced
4:02
that he is being appointed as the executive vice president and chief financial officer for Disney Experiences
4:09
and if you look at his resume, he is perfect for this job. Um he has had
4:17
multiple financial roles through the years and he currently is basically
4:23
running Hong Kong Disneyland and so this is a big step up for him. But the guy he's replacing had been doing it for I
4:29
think 39 year like some sort of that job. But he'd been with the company for 39 years. So um definitely is a good
4:37
step forward. I think a lot of people are starting to read the tea leaves of like oh does this
4:43
mean something's happening higher up in the company and so they're replacing it so that if Josh were to be promoted then
4:50
he has a team in place because then you could promote Mark Michael. I don't actually know if that's true. Uh my
4:57
first thought was like, "Oh, I wonder if this is connected." And then the more I thought about it and the more I looked at um
5:04
the more I looked at the the puzzle or the the chess game of
5:10
everything that's going on, I think it's plausible. I don't think it's a huge like waving
5:16
flag about like, oh, Josh Dearo is gonna be the next CEO. Yeah. I think there's
5:22
other clues around the world and at in Burbank that probably give hints that
5:28
are there else why else-wise and um at the end of the day we really don't know
5:33
because it's it's not it's not a Bob Iger decision this time it's a board and
5:38
most of the board we don't know like the chairman of the board was he from Goldman Sachs and he's only been with
5:45
the company a few years like so it's a very different Disney than it was the last couple times times around when they
5:51
pick somebody and I remember when they picked um Bob Iger I'm going a long time
5:57
um but I do remember when they picked Bob Iger in 2005 nobody thought he was
6:02
going to be it and then everybody thought he was going to be the worst thing ever because he he was too similar to Michael Eisner and um and it seems to
6:10
work he was you know it's funny how time changes things and you recognize things that you
6:17
don't rec perspective right that's what it is uh What do you think about him being promoted, Katie?
6:22
Good for him. I I don't know. Congratulations is the word. Yeah, congratulations. Congratation.
6:28
You've done it. Um I I don't know. I I think it's cool. I think um I I hope the
6:34
person previously enrolled was retiring. Yeah. On their own choice. Yeah, I hope so, too.
6:40
Um at 39 years, I would assume. I think that's a decent chance. Well, and this guy is the guy that stepped in
6:46
when they didn't have um when Christine McCarthy Mhm. retired. He stepped in and like he's
6:53
done his bit for camp. He's not He's not the stepdad. He's the dad that stepped up. Yeah.
6:59
For the the financial picture of the Walt Disney Company. Good for him. He's He's not the He's not the step accountant. He's the accountant
7:05
that stepped up. Yes. And then he went back and then he stepped down when needed. You know what? He did. Exactly. I feel
7:12
like he's always been where he needed to be and he's he's a consistent guy and so we wish him well.
7:17
Um, all right. Other things going on in the world of Disney is this week, as
7:24
happens almost every year on this week, we're not talking about snow because we could talk about that
7:29
probably the entire show, but snow did come to the castle. Um, my birthday week along with snow coming to the castle.
7:35
Maybe these are connected. It's all connected. Do you think new prices
7:40
for Disneyland and snow are somehow they put the snow
7:45
to blanket the price? I don't know. Or it's the snow comes first. They're like, "Oh my gosh, how are we going to
7:51
pay for this snow?" Yeah. So, um, prices went up. Yeah. Uh, what was interesting is prices only
7:59
went up for the Magic Keys, the top two. Yeah. which also a couple days later
8:06
they announced are being sold again on November 4th if I recall. Yes,
8:11
tickets went up also. Well, tier two through six most tickets and and they did add extra
8:18
days this year for the the lower tier. Yeah, for the tier one that did not
8:24
increase price and I think it's it's over double the amount of days, but um there's quite a few more of those.
8:31
What I found interesting is they also on top of all of that announced a Southern
8:36
California 3-day ticket, which
8:41
I'm curious to see how this works out, but it looks like a decent day or uh deal because you're paying basically $83
8:49
a day to go to the park and it's a single park, but that's and then you can
8:54
add park hopper and and Lightning, all that stuff if you want. But um but if
9:00
it's like your your three times that you're going to the park for the entire year, I I think and you've saved up for it. Um
9:08
that would be very interesting. Like don't you think?
9:13
Um so what do you think of all of these changes? And while all of this was happening also, we should mention this. Uh, Walt Disney World also saw ticket
9:20
prices and magic or magic and annual passes go up and um and unless you were
9:28
renewing and then they gave you the same as the old pass, which was cool. But uh
9:33
what do you think of all of this? A nearly $2,000 price tag for the top pass is getting a little bit hard to
9:38
swallow. Um, I think especially when I paid like $1,200 for Premier Access Pass
9:44
like however many years ago, like five, six years ago, um, I I think it's getting tough. Um, I
9:54
I was saying anecdotally, we've had more friends than ever not renew their passes, and I can't 100% blame them. Um,
10:00
because it is expensive. But the thing that is important to understand, listen,
10:06
people keep showing up. I'm not an economist, but I did take honors economics in high school.
10:11
Um, yeah, I took AP government and honors economics. If people are going to pay the price,
10:16
the price is going to continue to increase. Um, until they see a demand
10:22
fall off, they are going to continue to increase the price. Do I like this? No.
10:28
Do I like capitalism? Not always, but like this is the economy we signed up
10:34
for. What I would say to be lighthearted because I just talked about the economy and I'm I'm literally just a little
10:40
girl. Don't want to talk about the economy. Uh I would like to know backend
10:46
uh data when price increases like this happen. How many more part-time applications do you see coming to the
10:52
Disneyland Resort? Oh, that's an interesting point. And I would because I would sure guess there's people that are like, I could do
10:58
a part-time job at Disney. Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Um, that's
11:04
interesting. That's not where I was going to go with that, but it's possible. Um, I think it's interesting, too, because
11:12
growing up, Disneyland was like a once every year or three or five year thing. It was not a regular thing. And I do
11:20
think there is something to be said for um the people like you want to make it
11:27
accessible for the people that it is the one, three, fiveyear thing. like those families that save for for that once in
11:33
a-lifetime trip whether it's Disneyland or Walt Disney World and um and on the
11:40
flip side like you also want it to like you need to have people there on a
11:45
regular basis and you have you need to accommodate the people that are going to spend the extra money. So, they have a
11:51
really hard balancing act because as we keep seeing, there's lots of people
11:56
still showing up for the parks and there's still lots of of Magic Keys being sold in annual passes in Florida.
12:02
Um, but you can't just have them because then the average family can't go al like
12:08
I don't know what the answer is for like it's it's a very hard question when I when I think about it and it kind of hurts my brain. The unfortunate part is
12:15
that companies don't run on pixie dust. And that that is the very sad fact of all of this is that Disney is a
12:21
for-profit company. The company does need to be profitable. Well, and it it can't just be
12:26
profitable. It has to hit a certain profit level so that it, you know, it's it's meeting basically all of the the
12:34
goals that the shareholders expect that are going with the what is it S&P 500 or something. And
12:41
the other thing, and this will be the last thing I say, one more thing about one more thing. This will be the
12:46
last thing I say about the economy today. Um, for for the family that does the one
12:52
year, the three year, the 5year, the 10 year, the 20 year, if tickets were the
12:58
same price they were 10 years ago, that once in a-lifetime trip, they would not be able to do anything and accomplish
13:05
anything. That is true because um Radiator Springs Racers would be a 5-hour line and Indiana Jones would
13:13
be a three-hour line and like the things that they would want to do when they're
13:19
there would not be magical in the slightest because um the supply and the demand are not
13:24
matching. So, it's quite the balancing act. And listen,
13:31
I don't like being the devil's advocate for a corporation,
13:36
but I think that there are times that we absolutely have to be realistic about the fact that I've seen a lot of people
13:43
be like, well, you know, I'm still going to renew anyway, but and I'm like, okay, cut the butt. Like, honestly, you vote
13:48
with your wallet. Well, I've been impressed because I've seen a lot of people that have been passolders for passholders for a very long time just
13:54
cut their passes. And I'm like, that is a that's a way to vote. Yeah. and and that's a great way to vote and um it it
14:00
sends a message and you can always get one later um especially as we're seeing now they're being sold more often than
14:06
than they were a couple years ago. Um all right, let's move along to uh
14:11
something happier. Yeah, we did a fun thing with Clocky this last week. In fact, it was last
14:17
Tuesday night and uh last year we did a October Fest video in the parks.
14:24
This year we thought we'd mix it up a little bit because we've basically had everything that was in the parks
14:31
already. It was like, "Okay, well this is gonna I think there was one thing different and that was even
14:38
that was playing loosely by the rules of Oktoberfest because it wasn't technically an Oktoberfest beer. So, we
14:46
brought Oktoberfest to
14:51
Daps to the Daps Vacation Club to the Daps Vacation Club and and called it Dapstoberfest.
14:57
Say that fast five times. I sure can't. But um we will have the entire video up tomorrow.
15:04
For now, see this. [Music]
15:12
Welcome to the first ever Dapstoberfest. Did I get it right?
15:17
Daptoberfest. That's right. What did we do last year, Bucky? Last year we did October Fest at DCA. Yes, we did. And you also got us one at
15:24
Disneyland, right? This But we can't do the same thing twice. Correct. So, we're bringing Oktoberfest home for
15:31
Dapstoberfest, which we might end up doing twice, but not with the same things. Right. So, what are we doing tonight?
15:37
We're drinking beer. Uh we've got five different Oktoberfests
15:44
and we will try them out and then we will try them with uh a broth horse. Yeah. We also have some some German
15:50
October Fest food that we are cooking and uh heating this place up with. We are going to test them. We're going to
15:57
tell you what we think of them. We are going to rank them and uh and then you can get your own from home and and do
16:03
your own Rocktoberfest. Dapstoberfest at home. Rocktoberfest. Rocktober. Daptostober, whatever this
16:08
is. Katie, are you excited? Yeah. What are you most looking forward to? Eating.
16:14
All right, let's Daptoberfest. So, what I love about that is you're
16:19
most excited about eating when the whole premise of Daptoberfest is trying the
16:26
different Oktoberfest. I was really hungry for filming, but um yes, I do think this very much could be
16:33
a a new tradition. So, what happened is um Clocky texted me like weeks weeks
16:41
before and we're planning it out and so then he does a uh like research thing on
16:48
on the different Oktoberfest beers that are at the resort
16:53
and and it turns out there's one that I think you could kind of add that was different than last year and it wasn't
16:59
technically an Oktoberfest beer but it was close enough to one that we could be like Well, bonus, but like
17:06
then it really just becomes a video of us rerating things we've already had and
17:13
and comparing it like do we like the same as last year? So that didn't seem super interesting the more I thought
17:19
about it. So then I was like clocky, what if we go find five
17:27
because five, you know, Johnny five, we continue that on today. Um, what if we
17:32
go find five October Fest beers and bring them to the DAPS vacation club and
17:40
do it do it here and and so that's what led to DAPStoberfest and then that also
17:48
led to us being like oh well we should have brought wares too which you will get to see a little bit of that and we made cheese sauce with uh pretzels like
17:55
we went we went most the way we did potato wedges cuz apparently those are are a German thing too and I like them.
18:03
And um the meal was delicious. It I thought it was great. And um and then
18:08
we also went to Total Wine and we asked the first guy and he was
18:15
not super interested in helping us. And so then we just started looking and this
18:20
other guy is like, "Hey, can I help you?" And this guy was great. I wish I knew his name. And Clocky probably does.
18:26
And um yes, it is Bailey. And so then this guy is like trapesing around the
18:32
store with us being like, "Well, this one's this and that one's that and and
18:38
like I'm kind of just amused and following along and Clocky's like, "Well, what do you know about this one?" And like he's he's really like into like
18:45
he's the expert. So um that led to us getting five October Fest beers and I
18:52
think he showed up with a sixth one um a day later. He did. Which, mind you, I
18:57
had gotten off work. Um, I went to the gym. I took a shower. I was doing
19:02
dishes. Uh, the boys walked through the front door of the Naps Vacation Club. And I turned and I was like, "Oh my
19:09
god." Cuz there was was a lot. Like, they don't just sell one. You have to
19:15
get them in a box. I mean, unless you go to Trader Joe's, but yeah. There you go. Anyway, the whole video
19:20
will be up tomorrow along with the accompanying blog with the details about what each one is so you can find them if
19:26
you would like and have a Dapstoberfest tradition at home. And uh if you like
19:32
the video, let us know and we will do it again next year and mix it up even more because we like to challenge ourselves.
19:38
If you don't like it, we might do it anyway. So, I mean, yeah, that tends to be how things go. Um, speaking of beer, Gordon
19:45
Ramsay is bringing a pub, a gastro pub I should say, to Downtown Disney District.
19:52
It will be on the top floor of the Earl of Sandwich. And uh, this tavern, if you
20:00
will, will have uh, Beatles music and other British rock. It will have uh,
20:05
some some well-known dishes from Mr. Gordon Ramsay, Chef Gordon Ramsay, I
20:11
should say. um like his beef Wellington, which I can only imagine how that much that's going to be. Fish and chips, like
20:18
it's going to it's going to have all of that. And if that's not enough, there will be live music sometimes.
20:24
Yes. Sure. Um what do we think of all of this
20:30
happening in the Downtown Disney? I have I have a a small wonder in my head of how compatible the Gordon Ramsay
20:37
brand is with Disney. Um because like Master Chef Jr. Gordon Ramsay 100%.
20:46
But like Gordon Ramsay Burger in Vegas has a sandwich uh burger called the
20:52
idiot sandwich. I don't think you're going to be able to get an idiot sandwich at Downtown Disney. I maybe you
20:58
can. Um I also though two things I'm of two mindsets here. One, super excited.
21:05
Love seeing things like this come to Downtown Disney. It's something interesting. Um, it's giving people
21:11
something like exciting to do in Downtown Disney, not just like uh tacos,
21:17
which I miss the tacos. Whatever. The other the other side of me is like this is making it even more inaccessible
21:24
to families. But you still have Earl Sandwich downstairs. Correct. Like this is
21:29
actually to me the perfect approach for any place in Downtown Disney is if
21:35
you're going to have a more expensive upscale like Tortilla Joe's, you should have you should have the
21:41
Takaria if it's Tortilla Joe's that goes with like I like having that balance of
21:46
uh here's the expensive, here's the accessible. Yeah. And you're still getting a quality
21:51
product. Um will Erlift Sandwich have the same food as the tavern upstairs?
21:57
No. like in many ways they'll be quite different, but I do think it's a good synergy thing. I'm noticing in the
22:03
comments. I agree with that on Hulu. I also agree with that. Um Earl Sandwich is connected with
22:09
Planet Hollywood, the company, and that is big in Vegas. I believe he has a restaurant
22:14
in Planet Hollywood. It's called Ramsey Burger. Okay. It is that one. Yeah. And um I was like, he has a few of them in different places, but so there's
22:21
already a relationship with that company, so it's not that big of a stretch. He also has the relationship with Hulu and Disney because um he also
22:29
does is it called Uncharted I think where he goes to different places around the world and learns about the cuisine of the country or whatever and and
22:36
that's very family friendly like that it is and and he does you look at some of his stuff like you said Master Chef Jr. like
22:43
he can be the biggest teddy bear you've ever seen. And then, you know, as we saw
22:48
in Food and Wine last year when they had one of the Master Chef winners there, she was saying, "Well, he also has to be
22:54
the tough guy because that's how you make sure that the people that are coming behind you meet your expectations
23:00
and um it do you proud." also might have been that interview or just uh another
23:06
one, but they talked about like when Gordon has those outbursts, it's always at an adult that knows better.
23:13
He's never going to do it to somebody that's learning. Like it's you served raw meat to somebody and you 100% know
23:20
better. Um now, now I'm going to put two pieces of bread on the side of your head and say, "What are you?" Um I'm an idiot
23:27
sandwich. Um, no. I I think this is going to be super cool. I also really love places for more
23:34
live music. Uh, I just wonder how the noise bleed is going to be from the West End.
23:41
And you know what band I think and I would just submit as being in this place.
23:48
You're either going to say Hard Days Night or you're going to say um Just Press Play. Neither. What are you going to say?
23:53
I think there's a band that is perfect for this location. It's a 60s rock band that plays the
24:00
swingingest music you've ever heard. Do you still not know? Secret Agent Band. Secret Agents band should be They are
24:08
like perfect for this. Like I think you need to call Mark Kapitzky up right now.
24:14
Book him for the opening night cuz um Secret Agents should be there. I I just think that should be a thing. And um
24:22
whoever is listening to me, if you actually hear me, just let's make that a thing. I think they should be there. It should happen. Um, they would be
24:28
fantastic. I actually agree. Hard Days Night or any other Beatles cover band would be fun. I don't know if there's enough room like Secret Agents can kind
24:35
of like Yeah, they can fit fill a space. They can cram in and um but Beatles
24:40
stuff could take up more space and I just don't know how much space there will be. That's true. Um, you know, hopefully there's enough room for even
24:47
secret agents, but I think that would be fantastic. All right. Another thing that's fantastic,
24:53
they're doing movie nights in Downtown Disney, which is right in front of where this is going to be in front of the Earl
24:59
Sandwich. And uh this week they're doing Haunted Mansion. If you look at what's happening each
25:05
week for these movie nights, the entire lawn in front of the Disney live downtown Disney live stage packed. Like
25:13
I heard last week people were out on the the sidewalk around the lawn trying to
25:18
watch uh Halloween Town and this has become a really popular thing.
25:24
That's a fun experience. I went to Downtown Disney. I had a picnic essentially and I watched a Disney
25:30
Halloween movie. Well, I'd be curious how many people are local and how many people are at the hotels and like that would be
25:36
interesting to hear. But um I hope this comes back for the holidays. That was where I was going to go with
25:41
this is they've got a couple more weeks of Halloween movies that they're going to show. Um I don't know. They haven't
25:47
done Nightmare Before Christmas, I don't think. So, I feel like that's has to be one of them. Christmas movie in my opinion, but yes. Um but I feel like they're going to put
25:53
it for for Halloween because they have not announced a hall or a Christmas one piece yet. And they often do the snow
25:59
moment and they have different uh performance groups at holiday times that
26:04
could end up filling the space more. Um, but what other Halloween movies would
26:11
you like to see? Like Christmas to me is almost easier. I think they picked the wrong Haunted
26:17
Mansion. I mean, they might do the other one next week. No, a third one.
26:24
Muppets Haunted Mansion. So, I thought of that, too, but I feel like you'd have to make a compilation of
26:30
different shows because it's shorter than the a full movie. Isn't it like an hour and a half?
26:36
No, it's short. Is it an hour? I don't think it's even an hour. Um,
26:41
but yeah, I would be I mean, you can look it up or somebody can look it up online. Um, if they moved on to
26:48
Christmas, absolutely. Muppet Christmas. Carol, obviously. Yeah. No brainer. Like, that should be
26:53
the one. Just show that every week. Make that the Wednesday night thing is every week you show up. 50 minutes. Wow.
26:59
Um, yes. I feel like you'd have to double it with something Yes. Um, but I think it's a great thing
27:05
they're doing. Um, Muppets in Space is what they double it with cuz Muppets in Space is kind of It's kind of short.
27:11
Well, and it's I wouldn't call it Halloween. Aliens. Yeah.
27:17
Um, I think um Mr. Boogy with a double feature of Bride of Boogy.
27:24
There you go. Um, I love when I just say words and I don't even know what I'm saying. That is
27:29
actually one of my favorite things about Geek's Corner. Okay. Well, there we go. All right. Let us know what you think of Movie Night at
27:36
Downtown Disney and if you think they should continue it on. I think they should. I think this should be a a
27:41
year-round thing. And I agree with the Walt Disney World statement is it is
27:46
funny how they do that at every hotel and uh you know, we just saw it at Coronado a few weeks ago and we saw it
27:52
at Boardwalk and as you're walking around, you see it. Um, another exciting thing that's coming and and I'm tipping my hat for all of
27:58
you Swifties out there because this is a chance for it to be on Geeks Corner and Dap's Magic. Taylor Swift is returning
28:06
to Disney Plus, not with just one program, but two. She's going to have a docu
28:11
series and she's going to have the final concert. And um the final concert is an
28:18
updated version of the concert video of her era's tour that uh this has been updated with the version of the concert
28:25
that has the tortured poets poet society in it and was filmed on the last night
28:30
of the era tour. And then the the docu series is a six-part look into the eras
28:38
tour um with a bunch of friends, family, celebrities, other people that that uh
28:44
performed with her and uh it will be on Disney Plus on December 12th. I did that
28:49
without notes, by the way. I I want everybody to go on or I want to go on record that for everybody. Uh what do
28:54
you think of more Taylor Swift coming to uh Disney Plus? One, super excited for the tortured
29:00
poets department. Um, I really, really, really liked that addition to the set. Um, I also thought there was some parts
29:08
of the updated eras to her set because like instead of folklore getting one era
29:14
and then Evermore getting another era, it turned into folkore. Um, I kind of liked that cuz I kind of felt like
29:19
folklore was a little long in the original. That's fine. Whatever. Um, I also liked 1989 being in a different
29:25
spot. It's tortured poets. It's fine. I was close. We all were calling it the Tortured Poet
29:31
Society when it first came out. Okay, it's it's fine. Also, uh I think that's actually what the album is named off of.
29:38
But um is that her ex-boyfriend had a group chat called The Tortured Post Society. Mhm. Anyway,
29:44
um I think this is awesome. Super stoked. The thing I am so excited for is
29:50
the docky series. Um because when we walked out of the era's tour movie um
29:57
October 13th 2 years ago, which is crazy. Um
30:04
we were like, well, you specifically were like, I wish that there had just been more behind the scenes. Like I wish
30:09
it would have been like a what was happening putting on the air tour. This
30:16
I'm just so excited to see. Uh, especially the fact that they have the video of her rehearsing with Travis for
30:22
when he came out on stage and surprised everybody. Um, super stoked on that. Um, I think
30:28
there's a lot of fun. I do hope we get to see how she was choosing surprise
30:34
songs because she may not want to give that away. Maybe. Maybe she won't, but I think
30:40
that'd be fun. Um, also the other thing uh reversed the concert film. really
30:46
excited because uh on the last night of the RS tour, she played long live as a surprise song. Um and in Long Live, she
30:54
goes, "It was the end of a decade but the start of an age." And she did change lyrics say it was the end of an era.
31:00
So, which is the name of the docky series. Yeah, there you go. Okay.
31:06
Well, it'll be interesting. I'm sure the internet will explode. I'm sure Disney Plus will get a ton of new subscribers.
31:12
Um, you know, I think I have been waiting for this to be announced for a
31:18
while. I didn't know what exactly it was going to be, but I was like, there has to be another Taylor Swift thing coming
31:26
with Disney Plus. What's so funny is that you don't even know all the lore. I don't know any of the lore. This is
31:32
just me as a longtime Disney student and watching how they rolled out the last
31:39
one and there's just
31:44
the story wasn't done yet. Disney doesn't like to leave a story not done and the way it was done and the timing.
31:51
I was like I don't feel like Bob Iger is going to let this just sit. And the fact
31:57
that one of the first announcements I saw about it was Bob Iger's Instagram. I was like, I think he's completely
32:03
personally invested in this for multiple reasons. And and so I was expecting this
32:10
to come at some point. Maybe it came a little bit later than I was expecting, but on the flip side, it's also exactly
32:17
when you would expect it because you had the new album come out. Let's build on that momentum both for Taylor and also
32:23
for Disney. I think everybody wins and it will be uh fun to see how this plays
32:29
out. But now it is time for something else that's fun.
32:38
Comments. Comments. That's right. It's time for comments. If
32:44
you have anything you'd like us to respond to, something you'd just like us to say, well, not like us to say, like
32:51
us to be able to read. This isn't cameo. No, this is not cameo. Uh, that'd be that'd be funny. Um, to get a cameo,
33:00
like recorded cameo and then play it on the show. I don't know. That would be funny. Um, anyway, if you have comments,
33:06
let us know. We will. Now we can talk about the snow on the castle if you I
33:12
knew what you were saying, Chris. Um, no, actually, no, we can't talk about it anymore. Thank you. Uh, okay. A few
33:19
things. And two things can be true at once. One, this is not new this year. It
33:25
is not earlier than usual. It's just the way the week lined up. It is literally just this is the way the
33:30
week lined up. Mhm. Second thing, I hate it. I literally
33:36
hate this every single year. I'm like, we could start on November 1st, guys. And I'm sure logistically there are
33:42
reasons why we can't start on November 1st, and that's okay. But I don't I
33:49
don't Yeah, they transformed the park overnight into Christmas. I watched that documentary.
33:54
Crazy how that doesn't actually. I think we all did. I I will say this though, one of the most impressive
34:01
Disney moments I've ever had is I was at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Halloween
34:06
night one year and I walked into the parks with some friends and it was all
34:11
Halloween and then we stayed a little bit late. I don't actually know how we stayed as late as we did, but but with
34:17
that group, things just seemed to happen. And so, we were walking out well after the park was closed and
34:24
not to a point where we were going to get trouble, but you know, it was late. Um, and there was already Christmas stuff up and I was I was so like, oh,
34:33
they actually did do it over like yeah, it is happening overnight and and like the next day it looked all the retro
34:39
Christmas stuff was up. So, um, that part was cool, but it is it is,
34:44
especially at Disneyland, it's it's not really overnight. Um, and then what gets me is that last year they actually started putting up Garland
34:51
super early and I was like, okay, Garland in Fantasy Land, I feel like that can wait, like that can wait till
34:58
November in my humble opinion. Well, you know, they have more time this
35:03
year because they're not going to have to decorate the little trees in um, Stripbook. But you know who actually transforms
35:10
overnight? Who? Starbucks. Oh, there you go. And if Starbucks can do it in a million
35:16
stores, a million, huh? 13,000 in the company, but in the United States. There you go.
35:21
Um, but if they can do it, Disney can do it.
35:28
Tiana is snoring so loud. All right. Um, any other comments? We
35:33
will see if there's anything else to respond to. Did anyone even notice my Bluey sweater? Apparently not. Nobody said anything. I
35:39
think the microphone's right in front of the logo, so they probably couldn't see it. It's still Well, yeah, there's that, too.
35:44
It's still bluey. All right. Well, Katie, what should people do? You should Thank you for noticing. Um,
35:52
you should go to Wait, hold on. You talk about Josh Gad did Yeah, that's
35:58
actually upsetting. So, it proves Okay, the comment said,
36:03
I'm so sorry. comment said, "Can we talk about how Josh Gad did a video in the regular Haunted Mansion um and posted it
36:10
when regular Haunted Mansion is Haunted Mansion holiday?" Um, and I did take issue with it because that proves that
36:17
Disney knows that Haunted Mansion is a Halloween attraction and yet
36:24
we don't have it on Halloween. So, big feelings about that one.
36:30
I was just happy to see it again. Yeah, I get that. I thought it was cute. It was fun. Um, where did I get it? I don't know.
36:37
Maybe Hot Topic. I think maybe it was given to you. Well, it was given to me for
36:42
I was like, I I It was a Christmas present for Christmas 10 months ago that I got two weeks ago.
36:48
There you go. Um, I think Hot Topic uh but I got a matching one. And yes, indeed. Go Bluey.
36:54
There we go. All right. What should people do, Katie? Go to dapsmagic.com. Check out all the Disney and geek news as it happens. Uh,
37:00
subscribe to our mailing list. so you uh catch all the Disney and positive stuff.
37:06
Uh also go to patreon.com/dapsmagic where we will be doing DAPS after dark and we will find out
37:13
what's in the boxes. What's in the box? There's more than one box there. Um and
37:20

37:27
which means that very soon you might get to see a plaque in here and that would be pretty cool. Imagine if we did it on my birthday.
37:33
That would be pretty awesome. That would be ridiculously fast. But um but you
37:38
never know. Uh anyway, make sure to do that. Uh hope you're having a fantastic week. But that is all the time we have
37:43
for you this week. So we will see you around the No, we will see you around the corner. There we go.
