welcome to Geeks Corner i'm Mr daps i'm Katie and we're so excited that you're here hopefully here we don't actually
0:28
know what's going on right now because the internet crashed about five minutes ago so we are streaming from a phone
0:35
magical right magical so while you're here you should subscribe to get more
0:41
quality content just like this and this just shows better than this this shows our commitment to what we do here at
0:47
Dapsmagic we will stream this from a phone you can also go to patreon.com thank you Tiana patreon.comdapsmagic
0:55
where you can see the pre-show which is where we were when the internet crashed uh and then you could also go into the
1:00
chat and comment sorry this is new i'm figuring this out i am gone for a week and things change on me go into the chat
1:07
tell us who you think the Muppet of the week is going to be this week and then
1:12
leave us comments throughout the show and some of our favorites might end up on the show at the end for a new segment
1:18
which will be a lot of fun but before we get into anything else we need to talk very quickly about an adventure we had
1:25
last night at Parkside Market thank you for hosting it and that was for Chalkwalk chalkwalk is August 3rd we
1:32
have a team if you go to chalkwalk.org/dapsmagic you can join said team there it is right
1:39
there and uh last night we uh learned there's a way you can earn free tickets
1:45
to get to the park i think it's $375 fundraised um and the first 2,000 people
1:50
that do that will get to go to Disneyland on Disney's Dime which is great because they're donating those
1:55
tickets we also well I didn't but you did for you talk about this um we were
2:02
doing this is actually a test so everybody get your get your comment fingers ready uh there was trivia last
2:10
night where we were getting um a lot of Disney fine art a lot of really fun stuff this was the final big giveaway
2:18
and the question was Chalk was founded in 1964
2:23
what Disney film also premiered in 1964 so if you think you know put it in the
2:31
comments but I uh went after this one because one Walt love trains and two Mr
2:38
daps loves trains so I was like this will be the perfect addition for the set and I won which I was grateful for very
2:45
cool so let us know what you think it is in the comments because that would be fun and uh we will return to this at the
2:51
end but love trains before we get into Tokyo Disney and our trip report and all of that fun stuff we have one very
2:58
important thing to do and that is to make our weekly guest that's never right
3:04
ever it's time to talk about Thanks Daddy thank you Mr dad thanks man thank
3:09
you Mr dad thanks man all right we have Scooter this week
3:17
who's coming this coming week currently we have Scooter I should say gloria Estfan who is for those that don't know
3:24
penguin from Muppets ABC beautiful and I see Stadler and Waldorf in there i'm sure if uh well was right last week she
3:32
said Scooter ity was right but she's on a I just realized here she's in the middle of the ocean
3:39
that's kind of sad she doesn't even know all right um I'm gonna go with Bobo the Bear i am always hopeful that uh
3:46
that that that is that is the the possibility sure um and it looks like we got people watching from around the
3:52
world which is very cool so welcome everybody but it is time to talk about
3:58
Tokyo Disney and our recent trip there which uh if this works
4:04
we're going to show it to you as we talk about this so this is this is hopefully going to do something
4:11
we don't know because All right so here we go um as we talk tonight you will get to see and hopefully this doesn't mess
4:17
with the sound or anything um photos from our trip and uh they might be in order they might not be uh that that
4:25
will just be the adventure of today i also just want to say ding ding ding ding ding kevin was correct kevin was
4:30
correct mary Poppins came out in 1964 i would have been disappointed if he
4:36
didn't know that that's fair uh anyway Kevin and I go way back but uh
4:41
we went to Tokyo Disney we were planning on going for 4 days we ended up going for 5 days just because when your flight
4:47
doesn't leave till the evening why not go to Disney the tickets are as cheap as they are and you can you basically the
4:54
way we did it is we bought the tickets at the hotel once we checked in yes and you could basically buy one for every
5:01
day you were at the hotel including the day you checked out which was awesome so uh so we added the extra day for the day
5:08
we were checking out they held on to our luggage and all of that fun jazz you know the one thing that's that we created a problem with with this what my
5:15
notes were on my phone which we're using to stream everything with yeah uh so anyway
5:21
I think we're going to talk about entertainment first so uh that I believe was the plan uh no parks and theming
5:27
okay so let's talk about parks and theming first let's start with Tokyo Disneyland what did you think of this park and its theming tokyo Disneyland
5:35
was very beautiful um I was completely
5:40
thrown off by the layout the layout did not make sense to me um and I kept
5:47
getting really confused um I would be like "Oh so the castle's going to be this way." And then I'd be like "Why is
5:53
it over there?" Very turned around um I thought their frontier land was very fun
5:59
which was uh Western Land that one's super fun um I think Hungry Bear I'm so
6:07
sorry to Hungry Bear here at the Disneyland Resort hungry Bear Tokyo is way cooler because there is like like it
6:14
felt like a country bear extension it It felt like you're in like a forest lodge
6:19
or an old west lodge of some it was really cool and like they had a a piano that was playing by itself that was
6:26
playing a bunch of different old classic kind of like tunes my grandma probably would have played on the piano when I
6:31
was a kid dapper Dans yeah that direction like it it had a lot of tunes that Disney fans would recognize but
6:38
also some that you wouldn't that were just old probably public domain uh songs
6:43
that could be played however you wanted what else do you think of of Tokyo Disneyland itself so Tokyo Disneyland is
6:50
also very interesting because is it Tomorrowland there mhm okay i didn't I
6:55
didn't know if it's called something else they're currently tearing down Space Mountain which is wild from a
7:01
Tomorrowland perspective that's not entirely accurate space Mountain gone they got a new one going
7:07
up new Space Mountain is coming um but that's a really wild thing that adds so
7:13
much to Tomorrowland in general um not a bad thing i'm just saying that's something kind of weird uh but overall
7:20
it feels very magical it kind of feels like Magic Kingdom but very different
7:27
from Magic Kingdom so the word I would use okay is disjointed sure it's a very
7:33
interesting park because you can tell that they when they're putting it together they're like "Oh we really like this we don't know where it's going to
7:40
go so we're going to put Haunted Mansion right next to Small World which is right
7:45
next to Critter uh to Splash Mountain yes like it's kind of a weird and their
7:50
little mini Critter Country thing um there's also no train no train around the BM no it's it's it's in western land
7:57
which it's a great train i love it it's a good train um like Adventureland to me is probably their strongest themed land
8:05
just because it but even then it's kind of weird because half of it looks like opening day uh New Orleans Square and
8:11
half of it's Adventure Land like it's just kind of an interesting way they've done it and um Tomorrowland is obviously
8:19
being reworked so I don't think it's fair to uh to uh analyze that too much
8:24
but like when I went before it very much felt like old school Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland from like 20 30 years ago
8:31
which I love that vibe so I thought it was fantastic um the best themed area I
8:36
think is the Beauty and the Beast village or Bell's Village uh just gorgeous like you you're transported
8:42
into a completely different place i guess that in in the Adventureland front or western land area are probably the
8:47
two best currently i will say it also works better than New Fantasy Land in my
8:52
opinion because Belle's Castle is actually to scale yeah it feels beautiful it feels Yeah it really does
8:59
transport you into the story um I thought that Fantasy Land reminds me of
9:06
both Disneyland and Magic Kingdoms fantasy lands before they were um transformed or updated pre-80s for
9:13
Disneyland yeah pre early 2000s for uh or I guess 2000s for uh was it 2008 they
9:19
announced that um for New Fantasy Land but it has some good stuff in there like
9:25
uh you know you've got Winnie the Pooh you've got um their small world which is
9:31
hilarious right now also that small world has the '9s facade that Disneyland used to have which I think is so
9:38
beautiful with a little bit more power to the color yeah it's the colors are a little bit more powerful but no it's
9:44
very pretty um anyway theming for Disneyland I think it's got a lot of interesting themes it's got some great
9:51
uh um sight lines that are fun to just kind of keep your eyes on as you go through because clearly they've thought
9:56
about that and um and I would say it gets a thumb and a half for for theming
10:01
like there's a lot of good things but it probably could be more cohesive throughout the entire park tokyo Disney
10:07
Se on the other hand is two thumbs up gorgeous like every corner you walk into
10:13
is transforming you into another story and um and it doesn't matter where you
10:18
go you're going to find a story or an adventure or something that just it
10:24
ignites your imagination and it it takes you to a bunch of different places and
10:29
and it's a completely different experience if it's raining or if it's sunny um which we learned um what did
10:34
you think of overall of Tokyo Disney Sea Theing one of the most stunning parks I have ever been in in my life um I 100%
10:43
understand why people will say that it is the greatest Disney theme park in the world um every two seconds I was like
10:50
we're in a Disney theme park this one feels like Epcot times 500 uh different
10:57
areas of the world and all of them are captured that's like a world showcase part of Epcot yeah all of them are
11:02
captured so effectively um it is gorgeous we spent two and a half days at
11:10
Disney C and I could have spent like 10 more days and still not found everything
11:18
um it is so this is where if you want to argue about sightelines you can argue
11:24
about sight lines but this is where I think sightelines really and truly matter because they created a park that
11:31
was so large and immersive you're like "Oh I'm in a I'm on a different world
11:36
right now." Like even when you can see other worlds off in the distance it still works and and the thing I think
11:42
that part can do is turn an average photographer into a great one because you you really like you you almost well
11:50
there you can see now like it's almost impossible to not get good pictures just because there's always something to look
11:56
at whichever direction you're looking and there is a lot of say it with me folks kinetic energy
12:05
um no I think it's it's an absolutely beautiful park um this is to me the
12:11
bigger walking park like you're going to walk further uh but it's worth the adventure it's worth going and looking
12:18
for these different um attractions and corners in the park and entertainment
12:24
offerings and non-entertainment offerings that are entertaining like random guys with a uh trash can a trash
12:31
can that has a you know a horn on it and sound effects like hilarious um but like
12:36
both parks had a great band which were a lot of fun um we could do an entire episode just on the bands but uh going
12:44
back to the theming I thought um every direction you go you see something
12:49
amazing um I loved all the hidden details that you can find in Disney Springs you could spend hours literally
12:55
just looking at or Fantasy Springs okay u looking at the the the new um rock
13:00
work oh my gosh yes and then also like the the pirate ship
13:05
and Skull Rock and all of the stuff that's there's just so much to look at and to experience even if you don't go
13:11
on the attractions um which you could um if you want to wait in line because they're very popular true uh the
13:17
entertainment in the parks I thought was the entertainment they had was fantastic
13:23
so I love the Disneyland bands yes or Disneyland band and Disney sea maritime band um we also saw Dreamlight Parade
13:30
the Dreamlight Parade was fantastic um the fireworks harmony and color fireworks is super short it's like four
13:37
and a half five and a half minutes something like that um it's cute like it's happy it's It's It's not the
13:44
greatest fireworks show in the world but it's worth seeing once and the projection show is The projection show
13:50
was interesting too and And you get to see Marvel and I think Star Wars was in it too do I remember that no I don't
13:56
think so no I think it was just I think it's just Marvel now that thinking about it um I'm getting uh Tapestry of
14:01
Happiness in my head that's val um but it had Marvel in it and it had some lower level fireworks and the
14:06
projections looked really nice um I don't know that it's the best projection show I've ever seen and um but the
14:13
projections are very well done yeah they're very crisp it looks awesome um but if you're choosing between waiting
14:19
for that and you didn't maybe get Jungle Cruise in or
14:26
Beauty and the Beast if it's still open like they do close some of the attractions early so keep your keep your
14:31
eyes on that like do the ones that are really important to you earlier in the day um just because you might miss out
14:38
otherwise uh but I would love to say that Dreamlight Parade um I was sobbed
14:44
like an absolute baby um it is like Main Street Electrical Parade but the next
14:50
generation and not the next generation in like the paint the night sense in the We're going to be the Main Street
14:56
Electrical Parade but the lights are a little bit more vivid and bright and they aren't bulbs they're they're LEDs
15:03
or whatever beautiful stunning so well done um I really I we watched it twice i
15:10
cannot say enough how much I loved it and then there was also Believe Sea of Dreams over at Disney Sea which is also
15:17
beautiful and fantastic show we saw one and a half times yes because it stopped midway through on a very rainy night um
15:24
also one of the greatest nighttime spectaculars i think it's fantastic yeah um I would if I was like prioritizing
15:32
things I would for sure see Dreamlights i would for sure see Disney uh uh Believe It yeah and that's up there with
15:39
like original World of Color for me okay yeah like and Original World of Color is
15:44
like she is that girl to me and she always will be that girl but Believe is
15:51
it has big hits like it has some Disney renaissance it has some new Pixar
15:57
favorites um and it's got all of the emotional beats for a nighttime spectacular yeah so those are the two if
16:04
you're not going to hit any other entertainment stuff those are the two to hit um I would use I think it's called
16:09
the Premier Access yes um I would use that for both of those and I would also grab those first thing in the morning
16:15
you can grab other shows too um I personally would like you can it just
16:21
you've only got so much time and and so uh we filled up our time parks are only open 12 hours yeah and we filled up our
16:27
time both days in each park so two for each park and then a third for Disney C
16:32
um without doing all of like the stage shows and stuff which could have been fun too but I I don't think they were
16:39
the highest priority unless you're super into seeing uh Disney characters dancing on stage um the attractions what were
16:46
your top three attractions for each park okay so Disneyland I'm going to say
16:52
Beauty and the Beast yeah unsurprisingly in first spot uh
16:58
probably probably uh Pooh's Honey Hunt um and I'm actually going to say this is
17:06
really hard i'm actually probably going to say it's a Small World because of the Groot
17:12
overlay which is done at the end of the month but um but it's so good they did a
17:17
really nice job with it and it was very I'm going to almost say funny like Groot's in so many of the different
17:24
scenes and doing different things like it's it's very cute they didn't oddly
17:30
enough I think they're showing pictures right now um I also think though that it's like even you take the Marvel stuff
17:36
out of it there are so many more Disney characters than in the Disneyland or
17:41
Walt Disney World versions of the attractions um that it was actually really crazy going on it for the first
17:47
time with this Marvel overlay cuz not only are there way more Disney characters than I'm used to but there's
17:53
also now Thor and Ant-Man and Nebula the
17:58
funniest one though is Thor because uh they're in the rainforest scene and it's
18:04
I'm gonna say borderline it's for sure rock music version of it's a Small World
18:09
playing with the Thor theme I think so good but it's a little bit almost heavy metal like it was hilarious if you get
18:16
the chance go on it before the end of month if you don't watch our video um it's definitely worth checking out my
18:22
top three would be Beauty and the Beast uh Pooh's Honey Hunt and I think I'm actually going to go with Jungle Cruise
18:28
that was a really hard one yeah it's got a soundtrack it's got um some really cool effects that I'm not going to give
18:34
away if you haven't been there and you haven't seen it yet and then the Jungle Cruise Skipper every time I've done it
18:40
the Jungle Cruise skippers have so much energy and they're just hilarious yeah i have no clue what they said we were
18:46
having fun but they're having fun the people like there's call and response that I don't know what's going on but
18:52
everybody else seemed to and they're responding and um and then there it's just it's just hilarious and it's good
18:58
both at day and at night so like there's different effects at night than you see
19:04
during the day and I actually think so some ways it's better during the day because you can see things easier sure
19:10
at night there's way more effects and so it adds a different vibe to it so it's definitely worth doing at night as well
19:17
uh okay yeah let's What were your top three for Disney 3 disney C again this
19:23
probably isn't in order but I don't know uh Journey to the Center of Journey to the Center of the Earth really okay yes
19:29
i really loved Journey uh Tower of Terror mhm and Indiana Jones
19:36
okay uh mainly theming theming theming like the theming
19:42
is Yeah I agree with that crazy especially for Tower by far to me like
19:47
the spookiest creepiest tower that there is mhm and and Journey to the Center of
19:52
the Earth is kind of a middle version of uh Test Track versus uh Racers Radiator
20:00
Springs Racers and uh but it's fun it's fun it's short though so don't wait too long in it um the my top three is going
20:09
to be probably Tower of Terror okay uh Sinbad's Voyage okay yeah and I'm
20:15
actually going to surprise myself as I'm thinking this through it might be the Frozen Ever After cuz I
20:22
thought it was so good it's it's a huge improvement over the one at Epcot and
20:27
it's it still uses some surprising technology in it that's similar to Epcot um and so it's just that next level and
20:34
it's fun to see how they plus that up um Indiana Jones will be right there too i thought it was interesting because the
20:40
facade for the front of Indiana Jones you could very much imagine being the facade for the Indiana Jones going to
20:46
Disney's Animal Kingdom yeah like they look very I'm like "Oh you just add this thing." Like I could see I could see
20:54
maybe um uh the Indiana Jones here being like a
21:01
prototype or a entry level like this is where we're starting so we're not coming with blank paper and then going on um I
21:09
resonate with that Kevin because I have wanted to go on 20,000 leagues every time I've been there and it has been
21:15
closed completely different times of years and both times it's it literally
21:21
closes right before I got there both times uh who was I just It just doesn't like Who was I just talking to but they
21:26
were like "Yeah and they have 20,000 leagues." And I was like "Yeah we we couldn't we couldn't do it we really
21:32
wanted to." Um and I do think there's definitely perks to going at different times of year so I went to Disney Sea in
21:40
November and Disneyland in December last time this time both were in June and it
21:46
was fun to see the Halloween and Christmas stuff because I kind of saw that the the transition for Disney C
21:52
from Halloween into holidays and um so that was fun to see it was also busier
21:58
than I feel like whereas this time because of the weather being so
22:03
unpredictable because it's kind of the rainy season it was not as busy i didn't feel Yeah um
22:10
then uh favorite food for each park you could just say what your one or two favorites were uh my favorite food at
22:16
Tokyo Disney C was the food at the Indiana Jones restaurant oh okay that curry that we
22:22
got uh it was like a curry on rice there was like a runny egg honestly curry
22:28
everywhere in the parks was good and I feel like at Hungry Bear was also the curry yeah Disneyland that was very good
22:35
too they have the Mickeyshaped egg with the curry at Tokyo at Hungry Bear in Tokyo Disneyland yeah you can't go wrong
22:41
with the curry it seems like anywhere like it was all good um not too spicy it was It was delicious um I was going to
22:47
go with the Guyoza Dog oh man yeah in Disney Sea especially on a rainy day amazing um not necessarily a perfect
22:55
guzza dog but it's delicious it's so good and then the other thing I really liked at Disney C was and I'm can't
23:01
believe I'm saying this is the uh creme brulee churro oh my gosh and it's
23:06
basically a churro with the creme brulee stuff in the middle and And that was delicious and if they have it grab it
23:14
and then go back and get another one it's one of the few times I'm going to be like "Oh yeah i want a sweet in a
23:19
like He doesn't get sweets i don't get churros i don't usually get like I'll get ice cream on occasion but like most
23:24
of the time that's not my thing for in the parks and that one I we had it twice uh two days in a row yeah um and I would
23:30
have done it every day if I could have i will say don't go after the western food at Tokyo Disney so yeah the west they
23:38
haven't like if you're expecting normal hamburgers they're not quite what you would expect so I wouldn't um I wouldn't
23:45
go for your normal like hamburger station or hot dogs i haven't tried the hot dogs my sister did she was not a
23:52
huge fan of them and and then the hamburgers like they're they're okay but they're not they're not what you're
23:57
expecting for oh I just wanted a cheeseburger like it's it's not your normal and then the other thing I will say just cuz I feel like this needs to
24:03
be notated for people that maybe pick your eaters um modifying food is not a
24:08
thing um so if you're great at it is once it's on your plate well yes if
24:14
you're good at scraping things off which I am um super easy but uh specifically
24:20
with Western food I'm very picky i I don't want a lot of more interesting things um and this is this goes for when
24:28
I'm here this I'm fairly picky um so modifying food is a little bit of a challenge if you're like "Oh well I'll
24:34
just take the lettuce off." If if you're mobile ordering that is not an option it is kind of considered rude in Japanese
24:41
culture to modify food so just putting it out there uh my favorite food at Disneyland was probably at Oh gosh now
24:49
I'm actually going back and forth so what was a restaurant we had on
24:54
street bazaar not Sakura maybe might have been um either that or I really
25:01
liked uh we had a steak and whatever at uh like it was their steak dish at Blue
25:07
by that was delicious i'm I'm gonna give that one the lead just because I can remember the whole thing and I liked the
25:13
entire meal in its entirety better than the one on World Bizaar because the dessert was interesting blue Bayou was
25:20
so good blue Bayou was lovely there it was quiet it was relaxing it was service
25:25
was incredible it was the Blue Bayou I remember growing up with like it it just nailed like they nailed it um we stayed
25:33
at the Disneyland Hotel the entire Tokyo Disneyland Hotel I should say the entire time we were there in fact that's a view
25:38
from one of our rooms um you could get different levels and versions of rooms
25:45
that that uh change how high up you are and where you face and and things like that um we had two standard park view
25:52
rooms for most of the trip and then we also had a uh Tinkerbell room that I think was I think they called it um was
25:59
it Supreme it was premium premium I think and um and I think the character
26:07
rooms that have character in their titles tend to have a lot more updates
26:13
and Disney flourishes found throughout them like there's Disney everywhere at
26:18
least at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel but the character rooms definitely are to
26:24
the extra mile and we'll have pictures up like of those fairly soon there was a giant leaf blanket that you could just
26:29
like be like "Oh I'm sleeping under a leaf cuz I'm Tinkerbell." Whereas the the standard one was more um traditional
26:37
i almost want to say I was showing talking to Johnny and it was kind of grand fidian old school yeah very nice
26:44
views are beautiful the rooms are very comfortable um they give you like cups and little amenity tins and toothbrushes
26:52
and bags like they're very generous and hair brushes wild and I think you're
26:58
probably okay so depending on which hotel you're staying in you also do get early entry into parks so uh just look
27:05
at what park you get early entry for while you're there when you're um you're
27:11
booking your parks because it does change throughout the year um there's a Sherin across the street that a lot of
27:16
people swear by um I personally liked that extra 15 minutes to get to Disneyland because that made all the
27:24
difference in the world and um so I would stay probably on property again
27:29
and I would the only one I wouldn't stay at I think is the Celebration Hotel
27:34
because that one's about 20 minutes by bus to get to the resort well all of the other ones are within either walking or
27:41
Montreal distance um there's also a Hilton there that's that's walking distance Montreal distance and also the
27:47
Montreal is amazing it's amazing guys yeah it's it's a true like it's it's a
27:54
way to get around it's transportation it's It's more like Florida in that regard um but even more so like I feel
27:59
like it's the next level of what they had in Florida it is it is welcome to Geeks Corner Plus thank you Clocky um
28:07
but like it it uh staying on property it's it's a little bit more but the
28:13
perks also just like you're guaranteed to get into the parks every day you stay the Oh when you change rooms you just
28:21
called them up and you're like "Hey my bags are in the corner take him to my next room and they would take your stuff to the next room and put it in the
28:27
corner like it was even if you had stuff in the fridge cuz we were like which might have just been somebody being nice like that's not what they promised to do
28:33
but they would do that but we were shocked because we're like the stuff in the fridge won't come over sure did i
28:39
was shocked cuz we would get pastries at the cone beanie when we were not at Tokyo Disney but we would also do
28:46
pastries at uh Looking Glass gifts and we would take them up to the room and
28:51
the cast members were very lovely and they moved them and I was so grateful for that cuz I was like "Ah dang."
28:56
That's including the fancy water yeah it was great um how many days do you think is the
29:03
perfect amount of time to stay and if you have questions about Tokyo Disney now's the time to throw them in there because we'll get to those in just a
29:09
minute um or if you have any other funny thoughts or comments you'd like to uh address let us know so I know this is
29:15
always the hot topic the how many days four so exactly what our plan was yes
29:20
you don't think the extra fifth i think if that's available to you great but I think to have a really good
29:28
understanding of what Tokyo is I think four days and I think I think that's a good if you have the time do it yeah
29:35
like go for the four if you're only in there for let's say in Japan for six or seven days I would probably actually say
29:41
do one day per park and then really get out and enjoy the um everything else
29:48
that's going on yes but uh very fun wow we made it through all of the slides
29:54
look at that um but no it's a great place to go it's a lot of fun and uh you
30:00
could easily spend I actually personally would love four or five days per park
30:06
but then I'm like I also just love the rest of Japan too so I I wouldn't like it's a D you know yeah I go back um
30:15
about uh seven we're not to that part yet oh I have to push the button first just push the button i have to push the
30:21
button anyway I think you could have more days but now it is we are bringing it back it's time for comments
30:32
comments comments i worked very hard on that i was like
30:38
you can't go straight into comments we have to use the video um literally we spent hours on that today
30:46
we had a group of us all looking for for the right uh because the comments comments is our former producer uh um
30:54
Tyler and uh and I've always wanted to get that back and and now now we can all
31:00
right so now I'm going to put Kevin's comments up on the screen and you'll respond on average how much was Disney
31:06
Premiere access per attraction uh roughly I believe the low end is $7 the
31:12
high end is $12 that is USD um I think the shows were like the nighttime
31:18
spectaculars were a little bit more i I think those Were they 18 uh no because
31:26
I believe I paid $78 for the four of us so whatever that math
31:33
Oh so it is about Just kidding i can't do It's okay it's okay um anyway it's
31:40
anything it's one of those things that it's going to look really terrifying when you're booking it because it's all
31:47
in yen and the numbers look really big and like yen's in the thousands you just keep a calculator app open on your uh
31:54
your phone and it does the transition for you uh there is a thing on the app where you can at least on iPhones on
32:00
iPhones where you can uh you can have a scientific calculator whatever you can
32:06
do a conversion calculator and then you can have USD on the top so you can type
32:11
and then you can have it uh transition into the Japanese yen um so what I had was the Japanese yen on the top so I I
32:17
would always type it in and then I knew how much money I was spending um that helps a lot especially when you always
32:25
are hearing like oh Japan is so much cheaper there is this instinct to be like oh I'll just keep spending money
32:32
you just be careful just just keep track of how much money you're spending i will also say the tickets for the parks are
32:37
much cheaper too and um they do I think they vary a little bit but uh you are
32:43
not going to spend nearly as much on park so just for example we for all of
32:49
our tickets other than the add-on for the fifth day but adding up for both of
32:54
us all of that together was still cheaper than what we spent to go to Disneyland after dark on Monday night
33:00
for the two of us so that's four park tickets right for a full day for a full
33:06
day no eight park tickets for a full day versus two for a uh for a after after
33:14
hours event and so no I was very happy with the prices um how many 7-Eleven trips per day i'm going to go with the
33:21
entire trip versus just uh at Tokyo Disney because at Tokyo Disney we actually didn't go to 7-Eleven because
33:27
there's not is one but it's a bit of a walk and you're having to leave the resort proper and go under a freeway and
33:35
it's if you're at the Sherin I think it'd be easier but uh before that it was
33:40
at least two sometimes three 7-Eleven trips per day usually one in the morning one in the evening and then sometimes if
33:46
you needed a snack it was always a safe place to get a snack yeah it's safe place to get a
33:52
snack you can also find lots of different beverages there it's also because most of it's not too expensive
33:59
it's a great place to try things out that you're like I'm not entirely sure I feel this i'm gonna get this and then
34:06
I'm also going to get my sandwich that I know is safe there was something I didn't see until the last day and I would have tried it way sooner it was a
34:13
rice ball that had fried egg in it so it was kind of like think of like a fried rice it was all like broken up i would
34:18
have eaten that every single day um again I only saw it at the 7-Eleven in
34:24
Haneda Airport uh but it was so good also if I can make a recommendation this
34:29
is available at Tokyo Disneyland this is available at 7-Eleven look for Picari Sweat um and if you're in the parks look
34:37
for something called Aquarius they are electrolyte waters um so think like a
34:43
Gatorade especially in the hot months you're sweating a lot you need something to
34:49
help regain and retain as much water as you can so I was living off Picari
34:54
sweats um when we were outside of Tokyo Disneyland picari sweats outside of
35:00
Tokyo Disneyland like in Xpiari in the hotel easy to find but in the parks go
35:06
to a vending machine grab an Aquarius um I go I swore by that and I would say
35:11
it's not just during the the rainy season that you dehydrate like there's just feels like you're closer to the sun
35:18
or something like when I was there in uh from October through into December a
35:24
year and a half ago the same thing you just have to keep hydrating like carry a water bottle get these whatever just be
35:30
be prepared like more so than Florida I feel like they also have these really fun things that you can buy that you can
35:36
put on your bag um that is just like a bottle holder so you put the neck of the
35:41
bottle through this thing and then you can have it on your back yep and it's themed and it's themed and it's like
35:46
they look like Mickey balloons or they look like Disney characters super fun um
35:51
yes you do have Picari Sweat at Epcot i am so jealous i'm trying to currently track down where I can get Picari Sweat
35:57
in California uh sure amazon best churro easily for me is that creme
36:03
brulee churro and I sadly think it might have been a food and wine thing i'm not entirely sure though because it didn't
36:09
have the little flower thingy on it so there is a chance that it's not and if
36:14
they if they do still have it it's basically the Colombia is their big uh
36:20
Steamliner ship and that right past the exit of the Colombia like it's this nice gang plank
36:26
thing that you can walk up but the one that's floor level there's a uh it's
36:32
kind of like a I don't know it's it's a house kind of a thing like it looks like a a workshed or something and that is
36:39
the vending vendor Mhm place where you can get that best churro by far i will
36:46
say also this is just a random aside uh if you like US history
36:52
you should go to the Colombia there's a place called the Teddy Roosevelt Lounge
36:57
mhm we counted from where we were sitting and there was probably more 13 painted
37:05
portraits of President Theodore Roosevelt either portraits or they had
37:10
like um what do you do when they paint the murals yes like there there was lots
37:15
of paintings of Teddy Roosevelt and um I will say it kind of has that
37:22
it's kind of the direction of like Carth Lounge in the vibe and the feel and the offerings however I don't think the the
37:30
drinks were as good they were okay like I would put them um like it they're
37:38
they're not to the same level of if if if you go to some of the nicer lounges at a Disney park like I didn't think the
37:45
drinks matched with the vibe of the room correct so in my head it's probably
37:50
having having not been there like a GO82 at Epcot a California Grill yeah um Cara
37:57
here Napa you know it's it's Hearthstone that bless you and um but the you go for
38:05
the vibe you don't go for Yeah the best they're pretty though it was really fun also this is Let me just talk about
38:11
random things I learned in Japan um at a place like that and frequently at most places when they say "Are you ready to
38:17
order?" you're going to order everything at once so if you want to get multiple drinks at somewhere like the Teddy
38:23
Roosevelt lounge you're going to order them all at once and then they'll ask you how you want them yes and they're going to ask like "Oh would you like
38:29
that to be staggered um do you want them all at once?" What have you um
38:36
okay we love that grocery store we will that's great we love that grocery store
38:43
i actually really want to go to that grocery store since we've been back from Japan that is very good um Mitsua for
38:50
anybody that is uh maybe listening to this Mitsua in Costa Mesa it is a Japanese grocery store uh super fun it
38:58
looks really small from outside but it's it's very fun yeah it's got it's bigger than most of the grocery stores in Japan so at least the ones I went to but yeah
39:06
so uh that is a bit of a different thing because in America I think we're used to
39:11
waiters checking in um this is not in the comments but I'm going answer it anyway just because I feel like it should be in the comments is getting
39:18
around at Tokyo or in Japan and their uh public transportation is fantastic yes
39:24
uh there's an app we downloaded beforehand that Katie will tell us thank you s UA you can put it in your wallet
39:31
app you can put it in your wallet app or you just have it and uh that will get you on trains it will get you on the
39:36
Montreal you can actually use it at some vending machines and other places at family market um we only once needed
39:44
cash the entire trip and um so I would get a little bit but it's not something
39:49
you're going to need a ton of and um but it will get you around the trains and
39:55
whatever public transportation you're going to use montreal both in Tokyo and then at Tokyo Disney and um it's very
40:02
easy to like if you take your time and don't get rattled it is very easy to
40:08
figure out where you need to go and how and you can either use your your maps um app on your phone and it will tell you
40:14
which train and when and all of that stuff and they're all very much on time so you can follow it so you use the maps
40:20
and then you kind of verify with the sign above you and you look for the sign that's you know number seven or whatever
40:25
like it's it's very doable um even if you don't speak Japanese so I know that can be a little bit um overwhelming for
40:32
some people but and we don't speak Japanese that's the other thing we well we say well yeah we say
40:41
and we obviously know hi for yes mhm still were able to get around Japan fine
40:47
really did not have any huge issues with communication it's true it's true all
40:53
right well I think we are running out of time for tonight katie what should people do you should go to dapsmagic.com

41:20
discussion of what is the line between a Disney parks cavalcade and what is a
41:26
Disney parks parade so if that is the type of content you'd like to see patreon.com/dapsmagic
