Actress Ashley Eckstein lent her voice to Ahsoka Tano in multiple Star Wars series. David Eckstein, her husband, is known for his contributions in the world of baseball and was even a World Series MVP. Soon, both will be authors. Today, it was announced that this September, both Ashley and David Eckstein will be releasing complementary books.
Ashley’s book is called Lucky 22. This is a rom-com novel that is inspired by her love story with David. She tells their love story through two characters named Ella Rose Holt and Christian Lucas. She wrote this book with New York Times bestselling author Samantha Chase.
David’s book is called Just Enough. It will be arriving 20 years after his 2006 World Series MVP title with the St. Louis Cardinals. This book ““explores the faith, heart, and perseverance that defined his career, including the personal milestones that grounded him off the field,” a press release shared. It was written with former professional baseball player and author Jake Gronsky. Sean Astin provided the introduction for this book.

“I am a proud wife and David’s story is one of the greatest underdog stories that has yet to be told…until now,” Ashley said. “‘Just Enough’ is not just a baseball memoir, it’s an everyman tale, and one that will inspire any reader. As for ‘Lucky 22,’ everyone has always told us the way we fell in love is like a Hallmark movie. It was fun to share our story from a different perspective. I guess you could say our books are ‘his and hers.’”
Below are the official descriptions and covers for both books.
Lucky 22

Twenty-two was just a lucky number.
Until it wasn’t.
Ella Rose Holt believes in magic. Not always the fairy-tale kind, but the quiet kind that shows up when you least expect it. On the brink of her golden birthday, chasing acting dreams in Los Angeles, Ella’s life feels full of possibility…and just a little unfinished.
Christian Lucas has built his world on discipline, dedication, and the game he loves. As a professional baseball player, his life is carefully scheduled, a bit guarded, and rarely spontaneous.
When a chance encounter, a lucky number, and a not-so-blind blind date bring them together, neither is prepared for the connection that follows.
What starts as an unexpected meeting quickly becomes something deeper—an easy friendship, a steady trust, and a romance that grows quietly but undeniably. As their worlds collide under bright stadium lights and red-carpet flashes, Ella and Christian must decide whether love has a place in lives already full of ambition, sacrifice, and dreams in motion.
Because sometimes, the most extraordinary love stories aren’t loud or dramatic.
They’re built on faith.
On timing.
On believing that when the moment comes, you’ll be brave enough to say yes.
And a little bit of luck.
This limited-edition paperback also features specially designed edges, crafted for readers who believe in love stories worth holding on to.
Just Enough

In JUST ENOUGH, two-time World Series Champion and 2006 World Series MVP David Eckstein shares the valleys and mountaintops that shaped him—years defined not by trophies, but by perseverance, faith, family, and the belief that purpose is found in how you rise when life tells you no.
You don’t need to be the biggest. You don’t need to be the strongest. You just need to keep going.
David Eckstein was never supposed to make it. Too small, too unlikely, too easy to overlook. From a fragile newborn fighting for his life to a young ballplayer told he’d never be good enough, the odds were stacked against him long before he reached a major league field.
But what he lacked in size, he made up for in heart.
Through intimate stories of his Florida upbringing, the challenges that forged his family’s bond, and the failures that taught him to fight back, David reveals the truth he learned long before he became a champion: a person isn’t measured in inches…they’re measured in feats.
More than a baseball memoir, this is a story about the people who carried him, the coaches who pushed him, the moments that nearly broke him, and the love that grounded him.
Honest and deeply human, JUST ENOUGH reminds us that if you’ve ever been doubted, dismissed, or underestimated, you can still win.
Contains a heartfelt introduction by actor Sean Astin, who calls Eckstein’s mastery of the game “just a thing of beauty.” This limited-edition hardcover also features specially designed edges, perfect for collectors and fans.
