New ‘Creaturette’ Featurette Looks at Creatures of ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’

A new featurette has been released ahead of the arrival of The Mandalorian & Grogu on May 22, 2026. Called Creaturette, it looks at the creatures that will be seen in the new Star Wars films. “To me, Star Wars has always been about creatures, and I think it dates back to when I saw it when I was a kid,” says director Jon Favreau in the featurette. “We really wanted to bring an assortment of droids and creatures to this movie,” he continued.

“We use all these techniques to ground things. To make you feel like you’re in a real place with real characters, even though you’ve never seen these creatures or these droids before.”

In the following featurette, check out the creatures that were made for The Mandalorian & Grogu!

The Mandalorian & Grogu Official Description

The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.

Directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian, Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, the latest trailer includes a new look at Zeb Orrelios now flying for the New Republic and other species including a Kyuzo bounty hunter, an Ardennian fry cook, and the diminutive Anzellans. We also see Mando unmasked, raising all kinds of questions about the journey ahead.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is produced by Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with music composed by Ludwig Göransson.

The trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu was released in February. There should be a final trailer released in the coming weeks leading up to the arrival of this film. Both Mando and Grogu can currently be seen in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.
