Walkway Between Downtown Disney District and Esplanade Reopens at Disneyland Resort

A walkway that has been closed in recent weeks between the Esplanade and Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort is once again open. The walkway in front of the future Porto’s location was recently a construction zone. As guests walked past this area, they were diverted into areas that weren’t the traditional main walkway. Sometimes guests were diverted up into the tram loading zone. In the evenings, this area was joined by a detour through Disney California Adventure behind Soarin’ Over California. This led to traffic jams in the area as guests attempted to enter and exit the Downtown Disney District when heading to or from the parks.

On Wednesday, it was discovered that the original walkway had been reopened. Where fences once blocked the path, new cement could be seen poured. The fountain, which is right next to this walkway, had not been turned on again yet. However, the walls around the future Porto’s location had been put back up. Below are photos that were taken by the Daps Magic team of the update:

With the reopening of this pathway, both the Disneyland side and the Downtown Disney District side tram loading and unloading zones are again being utilized. Daps Magic will continue to monitor this area for any changes that come as construction continues on Porto’s.

What do you think about the reopening of this pathway? Did you experience either of the detours? What did you think of those? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
