The Disneyland Resort continues to try new things with its entry process. After testing the main gate process last year, the new main gate system was installed and is now used by guests entering Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Now, it appears the next potential phase of this process is being tested. Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort this week found a facial recognition test underway. The test was optional for guests with signs found in front of the entrance gates that were being tested. The signs said as follows:
FACIAL RECOGNITION TEST
Participation in this test is optional. Please use another lane if you prefer not to participate.

Guests who scanned the QR code or followed the link would discover a description of the test. According to this webpage, the test is set to end this month. It also says that “This technology is being evaluated as a method to help facilitate ease of reentry into our Parks and to help prevent fraud.”
The test comes as Disneyland continues to work to utilize technology and help identify ways to improve the arrival experiences for guests. The goal is to help make it easier to re-enter the parks. According to the website at the end of the QR code, the biometric data used for this test is converted into unique numerical values and then deleted after 30 days. Security is a top priority for Disney during this test, as is protecting privacy.
Daps Magic friend Spencer took the following pictures of the test at the entrance of Disneyland this week:

This test demonstrates Disneyland Resort’s continued dedication to improving the guest experience. Potentially, technology could be used to create a quicker and more efficient entrance process.
