Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin to Reopen in April at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has a reopening date. The Tomorrowland attraction, which has been closed since last year, is set to reopen with new enhancements and a new character on April 8, 2026. Disney shared this news along with other Cool KIDS’ SUMMER announcements that include the limited-time entertainment, attraction reopenings, and more!

Along with announcing the reopening date, Disney provided additional details about the attraction. This included a video that was released by Walt Disney Imagineering showing the new gameplay for those who want to join Buzz Lightyear as they face off against the evil emperor Zurg.

There will also be a new character when guests board their newly enhanced ride vehicles. Buddy is the new support bot at Star Command. His job is to help train recruits with target practice before sending them out on their mission against Zurg. There are some fantastic new updates to the experience for guests who go on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. They include:

  • Interactive targets that react and light up when hit
  • New hand-held blasters that include an always-on laser, along with new lighting, sound, and vibration effects

There will also be a new photo from Disney PhotoPass available upon completion of the attraction. It will show off the date, rank, and score of the players!
