Now through February 15, Disneyland Magic Key Holders can celebrate the 25th anniversary of Disney California Adventure Park. Each day at noon, the virtual queue for this Magic Key event opens on the Disneyland app. You don’t have to be scanned into the parks for this. You can do it from home or wherever you happen to be.

Once you get called, you will enter the queue at the Hyperion Theatre courtyard. There you will find 3 photo opportunities – one with the classic CALIFORNIA letters and a fun Disney California Adventure backdrop, one with either Mickey or Minnie featuring the souvenir guide map from the opening day of what was Disney’s California Adventure, and the third photo op features a Magic Key backdrop. You are more than welcome to enjoy all three photo ops. Keep in mind that once you get your special Magic Key magnets that you will be asked to exit the event so wait until you want to leave to get the magnets as you will not be able to return.
Once I scanned into the event, I made my way to the Mickey or Minnie photo op. This line does tend to move quite slow, but there is music playing that features songs from opening day and some present day music as well.
In the queue, I heard music from Disney’s “Steps In Time,” which was a short-lived show at the Hyperion Theater. I also heard music from “Disney’s Eureka – A California Parade.” This parade ran from opening day through the summer of 2002. It was really great to hear this music again! It was also fun to hear songs I hadn’t heard in a very long time. “Feels Alright” and “On The Edge” were original songs that played as Disney’s California Adventure opened for the day in its early years.
Another song that was playing in the queue was the finale of “Golden Dreams” called “Just One Dream.” This is such an inspirational song, and it should still be playing somewhere in this park.
The theme to “The Bakery Tour” was also being played. You can still hear this song if you get a sourdough bread sample and walk through the bakery. Fans of “California Screamin’” could also hear the original attraction music. Another classic song being played was the theme to “It’s Tough To Be A Bug.”

After nearly an hour, it was time for a character photo op. I missed Mickey by one guest, but I was able to get a photo with Minnie, and she was lovely as always.

Once I got my character photo, I decided to exit and pick up the Magic Key magnets. The first magnet features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy taking a refreshing stroll near the Carthay Circle Fountain. Another magnet features Joy and Sadness from “Inside Out” with the classic Sun Wheel sun and California Screamin’ track and says “Fun and Sun, Whether You’re Ready or Not.” The third magnet features the Spider-Bot from WEBSLINGERS.
Overall, it was a fun event for Magic Key Holders as it paid tribute to a theme park that has evolved over the last 25 years. Whether you have been a fan of what was Disney’s California Adventure or a present day fan of Disney California Adventure, this event will definitely bring back some great memories.
