On this day in 2001, Disney’s California Adventure officially opened its gates as the second theme park of the new Disneyland Resort. On opening day, DCA was made up of three main themed areas showcasing the state of California: Paradise Pier, the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, and the Golden State.
