Construction recently began at the Disneyland Resort on the new location for Porto’s Bakery and Cafe. The highly anticipated restaurant has been the focus of much speculation by fans since it was announced several years ago. Some have even questioned if Porto’s would actually ever be built at the Disneyland Resort. With the recent start of construction, some of those questions have been put to rest. The new questions focus on when the new location will open. While those questions aren’t being answered yet, there are some new things happening at the location.
This week, construction equipment was moved onto the location and began to take down ticket booths that were in part of the footprint for Porto’s. Videos showed up online of the ticket booths being demolished by a backhoe. Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by the Disneyland Resort this morning to check out the progress currently being made on the site. Below are pictures of the progress that has been made so far.

While a bulk of the ticket booths have now been demolished, the building that was most recently the home of the Earl of Sandwich continues to stand. It would be unsurprising to see this building removed in the near future. This comes ahead of the new permanent home of the Earl of Sandwich opening on the west end of the Downtown Disney District. This will include a new Gordon Ramsay gastropub.

The construction of Porto’s is just one of many changes in recent years at Downtown Disney District. It has been undergoing a substantial transformation that has seen some tenants reimagined, new restaurants and shops arrive, and even a new stage and lawn for guests to enjoy relaxing while experiencing different types of entertainment. Most recently, lululemon opened at the Downtown Disney District.
