Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites

‘Sounds of Magic’ to Celebrate Musicals of Disneyland Resort Through the Years at Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites

Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites is a celebration of seven decades of Disney magic and memories at The Happiest Place on Earth. This special after-hours event will take place on March 3 and March 5. Tickets are still available on the Disneyland website. Ahead of the after-hours event, the Disneyland Resort has revealed more details about some of the entertainment that will be offered throughout both of these nights.

Frozen – Live at the Hyperion – Disney California Adventure 2016

One of the new offerings is called Sounds of Magic. This will be a musical celebration of many different musicals that have been experienced by guests visiting the Disneyland Resort through the years. This show will take place on a raft that floats around the Rivers of America multiple times throughout each night of the event. Fans will hear songs from the past that include moments from Animazement – The Musical, Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee, Frozen – Live at the Hyperion, and even The Lion King Celebration Parade. This is a can’t-miss offering that will be full of nostalgia as these incredible memories from the past are brought back to life.

There will also be some other fun moments and experiences to be had throughout the night. Swing dancing will be returning to the Royal Theatre in Fantasyland. Disneyland fans might remember that this was once the Carnation Plaza Gardens, and swing dancing with live music was offered frequently. This bygone tradition will be returning for both nights of this event.

Over in Tomorrowland, the Tomorrowland Terrace will be transformed into the Videopolis Dance Party. This is a throwback to Videopolis in the 1980s and will include a live DJ, nonstop ’80s tunes, and accompanying retro décor.

Frontierland is where line dancing will be found, specifically in The Golden Horseshoe. This will be in a tribute to Woody’s Round Up, that classic cowboy show that graced the Frontierland stage in the late ’90s and early 2000s.

As with all Disneyland After Dark events, there will be photo opportunities found throughout the park. This will include nods to past entertainment that includes the Mad T Party, Main Street Electrical Parade, Club Buzz, and some favorite attractions.

There will also be characters from the past making return appearances during Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites. This will include some Long Lost Friends from Disney Afternoon, Mother and Father from Carousel of Progress, Merlin, Flik and Aatta, and the Fantasmic! Monkeys.

There will also be food and beverage offerings to be enjoyed at this event. Disneyland has shared the following events will be available:

  • Mushroom Philly toasted sandwich (plant-based) and maple bacon cinnamon roll at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
  • Birria mac and cheese in a bread bowl at Refreshment Corner
  • Gaston Brew at Red Rose Taverne

The River Belle Terrace will be offering a new specialty item: a blackened New York steak and prawns. Reservations are suggested for table-service restaurants. Details can be found, and reservations can be made at Disneyland.com.
