Zootopia 2 is passing the $1 billion mark at the global box office today. This milestone is being reached in just a record-breaking 17 days. This is the fastest that a PG film has ever done this. To date, the film has made $232.7 million domestically and $753.4 million internationally. Going into today, the film had earned $986.1 million globally.
Along with making records for how quickly it reached $1 billion at the global box office, Zootopia 2 is helping the Walt Disney Animation Studios reach another record. This is the first time that Disney animation has released two back-to-back films that have crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office.

The film has been a hit with both critics and audiences. It has a Certified Hot audience score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and also an A CinemaScore. When it opened on November 26th, its first five days began a series of breaking records. It has had the highest global animated opening of all time during its five-day opener with its $559.5 million. It also had the highest global debut of 2025. Along with all of those accomplishments, the film now holds the distinction of being the highest global opening for any animated film in Disney history. It also stands out as the No. 1 international MPA release of the year.
In China, Zootopia 2 is also breaking records. It is the country’s highest animated opening for a non-local title of all time. It opened with $272 million and then went on to become the highest-grossing non-local animated film of all time. This was done in just five days. As of today, it stands as the No. 2 MPA release of all time in China. This follows Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame. It has earned $447 million to date. Currently, Disney holds three of the top five highest-grossing MPA titles to be released in the Chinese market.
Zootopia 2 continues to show momentum in theaters and has also brought renewed interest in the franchise elsewhere. This has led to record viewership of Zootopia and Zootopia+ on Disney+. Together, they have been viewed for more than 725 million hours globally on Disney’s streaming service. Fans have also met characters and experienced attractions based on the franchise in the Disney Parks.
