‘Zootopia 2’ Nears $1 Billion Mark After Second Weekend at Box Office

Zootopia 2 continues to chug forward at the global box office. After its second weekend in theaters, the film is nearing the $1 billion mark globally. It is expected to pass this massive milestone this week. Over the weekend, the film came in second place at the box office domestically. It garnered another $43 million. In total, the film has earned $220.5 million domestically. Internationally, it earned an additional $219 million over the weekend. It has earned $695.3 million internationally to date. This brings its global tally to nearly $916 million.

The film is now the third most successful Hollywood movie globally in 2025. Internationally, it is the most successful Hollywood film of 2025. The film is showing incredible strength in China, where it has earned $430.4 million to date. This makes it the second most successful Hollywood film in the country to date. Only Avengers: Endgame is ahead of Zootopia 2. The film also opened in Japan this weekend in the top spot with $12.3 million. This is the second-best start for a Hollywood film in the country, after Frozen 2.

Along with Zootopia 2 being incredibly successful itself, it has also pushed The Walt Disney Company over the $5 billion mark at the global box office in 2025. This is the second year that Disney has achieved the milestone. Disney is the only company to do this in 2025 and also back-to-back. It is also the third year since 2018 that Disney has achieved this.

In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia 2,” detectives Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before. Oscar® winners Jared Bush (co-director/co-writer “Zootopia,” director/co-writer “Encanto”) and Byron Howard (director “Zootopia,” director “Encanto”) are directing; Bush is writing the script; Yvett Merino (Oscar-winning producer “Encanto”) produces. “Zootopia 2” hits theaters in Nov. 26, 2025.
